Q: How does this compare to Airex balance pads?

We bought this to replace our Airex pads. The Aires’s exterior began showing cracks all across the surface. The VIVE has thus far held up quite well in a commercial environment.

Q: Does this have a strong chemical smell? If yes, does the smell dissipate?

I have not noticed any smell at all, even the first day I got it. I sometimes use the pad to do push-ups, so my nose is right near the pad at times, but no chemical odor. (I have a roll-up mat that I wish I could say the same about!! It DOES have a chemical odor, and it's annoying!) I recommend this balance pad HIGHLY - no chemical odor, has been holding up well, and is a really useful tool for balance and other training.

Q: Can I use this in conjunction with bar exercises for leg strengthening ?

Simply standing still on the mat (or trying to) strengthens leg muscles, especially ankle and calf. It’s harder than it looks. It also comes with a guide about how to use the mat for other areas.
