The bags are great. The details and information , although on everything from zippers, eylets, bag hardware to binding and such is good. The patterns and bags are not for kids ( sorry other reviewer for disagreeing ) BUT almost every bag shows a way to make the bag kid friendly. Almost all of the bags are for adult and although most arent my particular taste in fabric, They can easily be used with any fabrics for a variety of looks. OVERALL the bags are fantastic, the instructions and how to use the baffling ( for me ) hardware used to make bags made me want to jump right in. I couldn't wait to make the bag on the cover..... Till I pulled the "full size" ( as stated in product description ) pattern out.... WHY ??? The patterns are on two heavyweight papers OVERLAPPING. I have such a difficult time with overlapping patterns, My brain does not compute them and it is difficult to trace. I want to dive into my crafting and the hardest part is getting the dang pattern. She does offer downloadable / printable patterns - but my printer is not working. Grrr. I will pay more for a pattern book that actually has a full size pattern. If overlapping patterns don't bother you then this book is great. But to me it ruins the purchase.

I have only been sewing a couple of months, but I am hooked. Found this book and thought I'd try it. It's full of great ideas and each bag can be changed to suit your preferences. I've had the book a couple of days and have made one bag already, can't wait to make them all. It's well written, has several pages of tips and instructions for things like snaps, straps, etc. And I didn't realize when I purchased that it came with a full size pattern pack, which is fabulous! Absolutely love this book.

This book is not for the beginning purse/bag maker. The instructions are very minimal and the patterns in the back of the book overlapped with one another making it a little confusing. You'll need to copy and then cut out a pattern. If you were to cut one out, you'd lose several others printed in the same space.There's very little information on interfacings, tools needed and other basics. If you're not familiar with the basics, you won't find them here. She gives you the materials needed for each bag. She includes the yardage needed for each section of a pattern, the number of cuts and seam allowance. You have a few reference photos, but no step by step instructions.This book has patterns for 18 bags, not the 50 or more as stated. The patterns show a bag made with a different color, sometimes a different fabric, but that's about the only difference between them. They may have a different stencil or applique, but the body of the bag is the same. Some of the bags refer you to an online link for additional pattern information which is nice.What this book does well is show you how to use your creativity by using other crafting techniques to enhance your bags. They explain how to laminate fabrics, stencil, melt plastic bags to create fabric, and more. This and seeing the designs she's created for the bags is the real plus of this book.If you're getting this book to learn how to make bags, you'll be disappointed. If you're expecting 50 different bag patterns you will be greatly dissatisfied. If you're getting it to stimulate your creativity and for reference then you may enjoy it. That's why I have this book a 3 star rating. I was expecting more from this book based on the discription.

Choly Knight knows how to write a how-to book! This book has lots of ideas for fun and interesting bags that are appropriate for many situations. She adds great ideas for detailing and customizing, especially applique and stenciling. Some of the projects have options for kids or people who love the J-pop look; others have very sophisticated styling. As I'm in my 60s and I have two daughters in their twenties, she has all of us covered. Sections of the book cover, in great detail and photo, basic steps and specialties like straps and pockets. Although I haven't dealt with the pattern sheets yet, the author is very open to assistance with any issues. My biggest problem right now is to decide which one to make first!

There are some interesting bags in this book. But much of what is here, I have seen elsewhere. Her tips on applique are good. If you don't have any bag books yet, this would be a great one to start with.

I purchased this book on Kindle from the sample. Mistake. Stylish bags. Drawings of patterns without dimensions. Refers to patterns but they are not included. No access to PDF file, no website to go to. Waste of time and money.

It's an amazing book full of great projects. I am so happy with this purchase. There at least 10 bags that I will start sewing right away. Also it has some great ideas for fabric decoration. My favorite bags are the ones for children. They are so much fun!!!

A pretty book with cute bags, but it's very short on instruction. There's more info on decorating the bags than on actual construction. If you want to learn how to put a zip in a bag, you won't be able to learn it here.

Another good sewing book. Ever since having this book ,my mind has been filled with projects and can't wait to get started. Have to finish my other items that I have started, but should be starting soon.

Really love this book. I already made 3 purses/bags out of the patterns in it and they are perfect. Easy to follow instructions.

I LOVE this book! I come back to it again and again. It has so many ideas for how to customize patterns and truly make something unique. Love it!
