Genuine Fred ROMAN CANDLES Roman Numeral Birthday Candles, Set of 8

The candles were a great addition to our custom made black and white tuxedo with top hat birthday cake. The candles didn't take away from the cake but added to its unique look and style. In addition to that, my husband was turning 65 and really didn't want a big 6 and 5 on top of his cake. He appreciated the way the roman numbers LXV were displayed on the cake. It said 65 without saying 65!

The candles are a bit small, but nevertheless they are brilliant. I used them for my boyfriend's 32nd Birthday on a small sized cheesecake and IT LOOKED GREAT!, but If the cake was any bigger it would have been too small and would have looked funny.The unique idea of the roman numerals makes it worth it!!!

Love these candles. There are 9 candles in the following denominations: XXXX V IIII. The only thing I would tell the manufacturer to add is a 1 to 100 listing of numbers translated to Roman Numerals because I had to look it up on the Internet. It's a fun way to celebrate the old fogies (like me, who, at age 50 got a kick out of putting it on a cake for someone 62).

These were such a fun idea, I just had to order them. They arrived safely and quickly, but my only disappointment with them was how small the candles actually are. Each one is maybe just over 1" tall, and I was expecting something more like 2" or 3" tall. The candles therefore won't last as long, but I guess I'll just use them sparingly. And yes, I realize birthday candles are by nature used "sparingly", but I'm talking about even more so. Regular birthday candles can still be used when they're half-gone, because they are just straight/vertical sticks of wax; these however would need to still be *recognizable* letters to have the same effect, and with how small/thin they are, you will likely get a few less uses out of them than standard birthday candles. But, if you don't mind the extra expense for a really unique twist on birthday candles, then these are definitely a great idea and sure to impress a few party guests (with questions about where they can get a set of their own).

I admit that I like to read about Roman history, so these candles had a direct appeal for me in that regard. But! When I turned 40, I put the XL on my cake and people really did a double-take - there were many humorous comments about them, all positive because it's a "big" birthday! People really enjoyed how different and fun they are. Most important, the candles are a good size; they don't take up too much space on the cake and yet they retain their notice-ability. They were easy to light and stayed lit for people to see them and for me to make a wish. I got a second set because I plan to use them again for myself and friends. They honestly still make me chuckle - I think they're really cool.

I didn't exactly read the description before I purchased these but they're kinda small. Doesn't matter though! The cuteness makes up for that! Can't wait to use them! Definitely gonna be ordering more of these!

I was thrilled to see this product. The idea of "Roman Candles" was to my mind . . . brilliant! When you get up there in the big numbers, single candles are way too much trouble. I was planning a birthday for a 103 years young relative and I imagined just how cool it would be to have just the four Roman Numerals on the cake. Obviously, I am as disappointed as the other reviewers who needed numbers above 89. I was mislead by the tagline on the box, "Party like it's MCMXCIX." I truly thought that meant there would be a C in the box. To the developers of this product: You are missing out on a big market. In case you haven't heard, people are living longer. And the older they are, the more awesome it would be to depict the glorious age of the honoree in ROMAN CANDLES. I will be able to use the candles for others in my family, but I am crestfallen that I can't use them at my BIG event in two weeks.

My husband is a Latin teacher, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity for Roman numeral candles for his birthday! They were sturdy and didn't immediately start melting. We didn't have them lit for very long, so I don't know how long the wicks last. Needless to say, he loved it!

Me gustaron mucho las velas, son de muy buena calidad. Lo único que mejoraría sería el tamaño, ya que al ser pequeñas, se acaban muy rápido.

We used the Roman Numeral Candles for a relatives 80th birthday party, everybody remarked on the novel idea, much more creative than a simple 80 candle. Younger family members even learned about roman numerals in fun way, while joking with the older generation! Delivery was fast and good value for money. Excellent product.

Cuando llegas a cierta edad en la que la s velas ocupan más que la tarta en si, es momento de recurrir a los maravilloso números romanos. Mi madre llevaba años sin querer velas y con estas no protesta!

I expected the candles to be bigger in size, and to be better quality. Although I should have read the dimensions of the product, they were a lot smaller than I was anticipating. I used them for the first time earlier today, and some of the silver on the candle has already fallen off. I shouldn't have been expecting so much from birthday candles, but I don't believe my money was well spent.

Estarán chiquitos pero le da un toque elegante a la fiesta, inclusive se ven bien aunque se despinten, le da un toque rústico al pastel :P
