Q: What is this product actually used for? i don't think thermostat on my old new yorker is working properly. could this help?

This would not be used for an automotive thermostat. It's used mostly in HVAC applications. You would use it on a aquastat "bulb" to better conduct the temperature of a copper pipe to the "bulb".

Q: Can I use it on a dishwasher thermostat?

Cannot be exposed to liquid, sensor needs to be in waterproof well.

Q: Can I use this on a dishwasher temperature regulator(thermostat) the mfr sells part with a $200 tube of heat conductive compound. Metal to Metal?

I would certainly give it a try. Probably the same stuff

This is the best conductive paste

The best stuff out there been using it since early 00’s on lyophilizers chiller etc etc and every thermal well keeping a probe

Good size works well

Used for dry well temp sensor and for temp probe metal taped to copper pipe. Good size container works well
