Perfect!
I purchased a set of 2 drawer file frames to convert regular drawers to "file cabinets". These were easy to put together (they come with instructions but everything was self-evident). They went together quite readily. The customizable snap-off bars are not meant to be snapped off with fingers (at least not with my fingers). I used one set of pliers to hold the bar at the area I wanted to break and another set of pliers to bend and break off the excess. Voila! Perfect custom file frame for the drawers. They are sturdy, they hold all my files, and I can't imagine a better solution.

Far easier to trim to size than others say
Product does exactly what it is supposed to: provides a base to stand up files. It was easy to put together, although when carrying the assembled unit to the filing cabinet the 'legs' can pop out. Theres no locking feature but once theyre in the cabinet the weight of the files keeps everything together and I have no worries of this falling apart. I wouldnt use this as a free standing unit as I do think the filing cabinet strengthens the unit. But I dont think these are designed to be free standing and thus do what theyre supposed to.A lot of reviews have had issues cutting the side down to size. My complaint is that the sides dont seem designed to fit in a standard cabinet so you HAVE to cut them down. I cut it down to the second to last not h and they are a perfect fit. It was VERY easy to trim to size: not sure if all the complaints promted the additional piece, but the units come with two pieces of plastic you slip on the end to help snap it off at a notch. All the sides trimmed down quickly and easily. There was a slight bend in the first two pieces I did, but I could use that plastic piece to bend it back with no issue. On the second set I moved the piece closer to the 'snap off point' and that left me with two straight pieces. I cant imagine how you would need bolt cutters or two people to do this; it is honestly a quick and easy task that took about 15 seconds/end.All in all, the price is good, the quality is good, ease of putting together fully acceptable. Id recommend these to anyone who neexs them and wouldnt hesitate to purchase them again.

Great end result, but required some tinkering to size
As was the case for a number of other reviewers on here, I purchased these to fit hanging files into a piece of IKEA furniture (in my case, the JONAS drawer unit). Upon arrival, I began to understand what people were talking about when they said that they had had trouble sizing these down, but being home for the day, I was without a hacksaw or any pliers strong enough to cut them down. After ruining one set of rails to experimenting (which was fine since I only needed one anyway), I discovered how to size these using the included tools only. In short, after deciding how many "notches" to trim away (I only needed to cut it down to 17" to fit it into my drawer), put the length of the frame on a sturdy surface with only the portion to be removed hanging over the side. Then, hold BOTH included tools in one hand (i.e. such that they're back to back), and fit the to-be-cut length of frame into tools' opening. Then, while securely holding down the length of frame resting on the table, bend the overhanging piece until it gets to 90 degrees. Then, just bend back in the same way and it should snap off cleanly. Using both tools proved to be key here since using just one of the tools to perform this task will lead to snapped plastic. After you're done, be sure to follow the included instructions regarding which plastic clips to put at the end of the frames (the 8 pieces are NOT all interchangeable), and then just be sure to tap them all the way on with a plastic hammer (or the rubber end of a heavy screwdriver, in my case). All in all, while these frames required some problem solving to use, I can't argue with the quality of the finished product.

Made my desk much more functunal - worth the money.
I used this rack to convert my lateral files in a 13.5 " W X 18" D desk drawer that would not open enough to file the papers without bending them. I replaced the lateral file rails with this system and presto- no more bent folders and contents!LIKES: The rack is designed not to waste side to side space and fit my somewhat narrow drawer. The depth adjustable feature was a necessity. All other brands that I checked were at least 1/2 " too long to fit. My file hangers slide smoothly and stay on the track without difficulty.DISLIKES: Instructions could be a little more clear but I am not a regular DIY person.NOTES: Assembly requires that you 1) READ and FOLLOW the instructions. 2) Have one or two sets of pliers and decent hand strength. 3) The flat side of the corner tabs really do face the outside. After measuring the length, rail size is adjusted by popping off excess rail from the scored end. I suggest removal of minimum excess and loosely assemble one side to check fit in drawer. (Gripping the rail with pliers on each side of the desired score line and bending on the line 5 or 6 times allows the excess to pop off) If your drawer does not open all the way, you may want to assemble the back half first and the front after it is in place.WOULD BUY AGAINI absolutely recommend this item because it saved me from discarding my $800 desk.

One little problem...
These hanging folder drawer inserts work very well and are very inexpensive compared with comparable products which is one of the reasons that I ordered them. The design is good and the assembled product is sturdy and functional. However, when they arrived, I found that the inserts (plastic pieces that allow the rails to be assembled with the U-shaped base) are not symetrical. That means that you must be able to insert the rails in a way that provides the proper orientation when the hanging folder insert is assembled. 7 of the 8 rail inserts were correctly oriently, but one was not. That meant I had to do a little home style engineering on the final rail insert in order to get the second drawer insert assembled. Not a big problem and, in the grand scheme of things, didn't keep me from being able to use the inserts, but it is indicative of a quality control problem that potential buyers should be aware of...
