The 980 wasn't available when I got the 970 EVO at $135, and the Plus was $170 back then. What is the difference between 970 evo plus vs 980 ssd?

From what I have read, 970 has built in cache and 980 doesn't. However, 980 being newer has other features. In real everyday performance, I cannot see a difference. I have 2 computers with same motherboard chipset and processors. One boots to a 970 the other to a 980. Equal performance in my opinion. I would get whichever is the best price. Hope this helps.

I have older asrock z370 pro4 motherboard, it says it supports ultra m2 ssd, but not sure if nvme is supported? do nvme drives need different m2 slot?
