What size would fit 5’6ft and 120lb?

Not sure. I bought a kids large for a 10 year old boy who was average size for his age a, year later at 11 he weighs about 93 lbs. The costume was very snug then and I didn’t think it would fit him again. He loved the costume as did I. I would get an adult size if available.

My son wears an 8 -10 clothing. What are the sizes?

As your son is between age bands for the sizes I would recommend matching his height to the size guide shown on the left, that's what our sizes are based on. If between sizes I would recommend going up a size to give yourself more room. Hope this helps :)

are the gloves detachable?

This is an all-in-one costume, so the hands are not detachable from the rest of the suit.

Is the mask detachable from the rest of the costume?

The mask is not detachable from the costume but it has a velcro closure on the back of the head that can be undone and tucked into the front of the suit.
