Go to a decent tackle shop in teh area where you are fishing ask them what fish are biting where you are fishing and how to set up your line and rigs. They will usually outline on a map where to go fishing, what kind of bait, etc.

is the reel handle supposed to have some play? the screw cap only goes in to certain limit and it locks in
