New version of old reliable shoe - some differences
I like the comfort and value of New Balance shoes so this was pretty much a repeat purchase based on the MT481GO models I've previously worn (apparently discontinued).Notable differences: the sole is rubber strips mounted on foam, rather than a full rubber bottom like the outgoing model. I'm a bit concerned how they will hold up in the long run, especially if you are really running on trails versus my use as a daily wear. The pull-on strap on the back is secured by bungie cords that wrap around the side instead of being affixed to the heel directly, so I am worried those will wear and break fast, and the stretchiness makes it harder to actually pull the shoe on like the older styles, but at least the strap is big enough I can use my finger instead of a hook to pull them on. I did notice these shoes are a lot more "airy" than the MT481GO, so I expect ventilation to be better when running but am worried about the winter slush getting in a bit more, but that is more dependent on climate. The shoe laces are more oblong rather than round, presumably to prevent slippage and untying, but they are still nylon and in true NB shoe spirit will relentlessly find themselves in a relaxed state underneath your feet. If you are doing serious running, buy a good pair of cotton laces to keep these shoes from coming untied.Regarding size, the New Balance shoes fit as expected based on previous purchases, but shoes vary wildly. These size 11.5D New Balance shoes would have been size 12 if I were wearing Nike, or size 10.5 if they were Clarks. I can't even remember my true size by the Brannock device, but I think it is about 11 if that helps. One note: I like to wear my tennis shoes so they slip on and off without untying.

Happy Buying New Balance Online for Years
I hate going to to shoe stores to buy shows. That's why, once I find out that New Balance fits consistently well in my particular size, I've had no reservations buying then online since the mid-2000s. This purchase was no exception. The shoes fit and are comfortable. They are inline with the new trend of less forefoot padding and, while that took some getting use to, I like it as it gives you more of a feel for the road. I ordered red and black and while it doesn't look great in the picture, it looks really cool "in person."One sidenote: One of the secondary reason I buy New Balance is that their PR machine has continued to pump the propaganda that they're made in America. Well, after I wore these for awhile I saw that label and found that these were make in China. While I surprised, I wasn't disappointed. I have to say that too many people Amazon bash products made in China automatically and I'm guess they're of the generation that was conditioned to equate Chinese made products with low quality. Given that some of the best and most coveted high tech products are made China (your iPads and iPhones being among), would say that some people need to rethink their prejudices.

"Get Some!"
I love what New Balance has done with their designs lately. I have a wide foot so they always fit perfectly when order them 2 E or 4 E. Comfort coupled with the nice styling....Hard to beat that! Here is the best part..... THEY ARE MADE IN THE USA!The first thing I did after receiving these shoes (this is 1 of 3 pairs I bought, so the other 2 reviews will be copy paste) is I checked to see if they were a publicly traded company, if New Balance continues like they have been they will be competing with the likes of Nike and Adidas. FYI, they are a privately held company...I should have known. If they were to ever go public the greedy share holders would want them made in China. You know how Nike has the slogan "Do It" ..... This may sound hillbilly, but New Balance should use the slogan "get some!"

Fits well, even with Wide feet :)
Was not sure what to expect, but with Prime Shipping, and the easy return policy with Amazon, I took a chance, and glad I did.I have just started getting more active... needed a set of shoes that allows me to walk on trails, sidewalks, treadmills, and even the mall. I have wide feet (EEE size) so based on some previous reviews, decided to go with the 4E version of the shoe... Perfect fit.I appreciate the mesh cover, when I hike here in Texas (Hike and Bike trails), my feet are not baking like other walking / running shoes.I have put on many miles with these shoes. It distributes my weight evenly and the heel is comfortable.Amazed with how light these shoes are, but that is expected with the mesh covering... (one I was standing outside after a long walk, and the cool breeze came, I was relieved to feel the cool air on my feet with these shoes)Played tennis in them, they worked well...So if you are looking for a good, sturdy, comfortable, light pair of shoes that feels great on wide feet like mine... these are the shoes for you...

Good Shoe so far
I originally purchased a pair of "83" All Terrain NB shoes at a Famous Footwear store about 4 yrs ago... they were the most comfortable shoes I had owned since damaging my ankle in an accident. I loved them. I do not know if they were "extra wide" and by the time I went to replace them, the "83" series were no longer available... I bought another NB shoe hoping to strike gold again... not so... while they are good shoes they are too narrow and they are the regular D width... so I decided to try again after talking to a co-worker and ordered a 2E shoe... these shoes are more comfortable than the last pair of NB I bought, but still not the match of the old "83"... now I wish I had bought 2 pair of them before the line was discontinued! My running days are over, so this shoe will be fine for my daily wear, is very lightweight and should be very breathable... my only concern is how long they will hold up. Time will tell.
