Working great through 5 summers now!
Purchased this item in September 2021, it's now October 2025, figured I should write a review! I have used this April/May through October every single year (mid Atlantic coastal U.S.) and it works beautifully. Easy to use, easy to clean. Quiet operation. Perfect for a closet or other small room that just gets too humid. Every time you empty it, shake the chamber vigorously with fresh water. Keeps the biofilm gunk from building up in between cleanings. Be gentle when you put the water chamber back into the unit. Always take out and empty with the power off. If you're not using it all year long, clean it and make sure it is absolutely dry before storing for the season. Overall, great purchase and wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

Works wonderfully and has stood the test of time.
I bought this dehumidifier for my freshman year of college. It was common knowledge that the dorm I was assigned had a reputation for being humid. So much so, that during the year I lived there, there was a lovely little mold outbreak. I kept this on in my dorm room pretty much anytime that there wasn’t snow on the ground. In the warmer months, it would fill more quickly. I don’t think it filled up any faster than every 36 hours during peak humidity during my use. It’s easy to empty, easy to clean with a little vinegar when necessary, and really hasn’t become less effective after having it for 6 years. It’s been used for the first straight year, then intermittently for a few months of the year for the last 5. In the town I live in now, humidity isn’t as frequent of a problem. I find myself using a humidifier more often than this dehumidifier, but when I do pop it out of storage, it works rather quickly to manage any stuffiness that is bothering me. It’s super simple to use, with just an on/off switch. There is a plug to easily empty it, which I’ve always repurposed to water plants. For the money, and the size of the space I’ve inhabited (either a small dorm room or a 1 bedroom apartment) it’s worked very well. I wouldn’t expect it to cover more square footage than it advertises. It’s also genuinely quiet, and I like that it shuts of automatically when full. I’m very happy with the unit for what I spent on it.

All in all? Look elsewhere, even if you're on a budget.
Sure, at first it kinda did the trick. I primarily used it in a small bedroom, near a poorly insulated window that experienced constant condensation/mildew issues throughout the year. The hygrometer I'd place nearby would register somewhat of a dip in humidity readings (but nothing drastic). Quickly realized it'd be a pain in the neck to empty out. Tilting it any manner of ways means that water would spill out from what seemed like a half-dozen different holes, orifices, seams. But at least when it was in operation it didn't leak—for now (spoiler alert). Still, I wish the emptying process was more intuitive. I could never seem to drain it completely; there was always some water left in the tank no matter what direction I tilted it. However, after two months the unit suddenly wouldn't turn back on. I reached out to ProBreeze who promptly responded and, after exchanging visual confirmation about the issue, kindly offered to send me a replacement unit. Nifty, right? Well, fast forward another two months and then the replacement started leaking. Normally upon filling to capacity the unit would shut itself off and its light would turn yellow. Nope! On three occasions within about a two week span, the unit would overflow, leaving a puddle around its base. No yellow light, no automatic shut-off—just wet furniture and carpet. At that point I again reached out to ProBreeze, who did issue a full refund my way. (It should be noted they were quick to reply and very kind in their responses! Kudos to them!) Instead of tossing the unit I gave it to my roommate who placed it on their windowsill and would be extra diligent about emptying the tank (without waiting for any automatic shut-off). Five months later and the unit's now buzzing loudly whenever turned on. We've officially given up on this piece of junk. I know it's only $40, and I know the company gave me a refund. But now I have TWO of these hunks of useless plastic to dispose of. You get what you pay for. And apparently I paid to have negligible dehumidification that was, after a constant battle to control how or when the water stayed in the tank, ultimately only suitable to a very small, confined space. The thing didn't even last the calendar year until winter rolled around... when I need it most. Spend your money elsewhere.

Reduced humidity in master bath in southern US
Living in the south with high humidity this has been a great little helper. Purchased for master bath which has a cave shower (no door) and the humidity levels became too high after the outside humidity returned from its winter vacation. Towels would feel damp 12 hours after last shower due to absorbing the moisture in the room even though we ran exhaust fans. This little machine was the help we needed. It is small but does the job- did not measure the relative humidity before or after but I know towels are now dry and the tank needs to be emptied every 3 days or so. After owning for almost two months I have not had any mold or mildew growth in tank but we run constantly unless we leave home for extended period. Just purchased a second one to help in small windowless laundry room that holds humidity and hoping it will help equally well in that small area. Worked well for a master bathroom and confident it will work well for a small laundry room too. Only negative is the noise level- I felt the unit created more noise for its size than I expected. It is a white noise so tolerable as it is in an adjoining room but would have been too loud if in a bedroom. The noise level is less than an exhaust fan but more than a ceiling fan if that helps.

Highly recommend
I purchased this in November of 2021 for my bathroom. Its been just over 4 years and still works great. It is used several times a day and sometimes it is accidentally kept on all day. It is easy to drain and essentially zero maintenance. 10/10 would recommend!

Smaller than previous one but seems ok.
The one is a little smaller than the ones I bought before it. This is my third one. First one, power plug broke in two. They replaced it, so that’s good. Second one worked fine for two years and suddenly stopped. I guess I’ll see how this one does! The previous models were great at extracting moisture from my bathroom which has no ventilation but a window. It collected a LOT of water! This has prevented the mold/mildew I used to get in the bathroom. I also squeegee the shower walls after, and during shower I crack the window and door for some cross ventilation.
