Can I use this to resize cardboard boxes?

I had not considered that as a possibility, to be honest. The spikes are long enough to "punch" through the first layer of cardboard. I just gave it a "test" on a US Postal Service box flap in several locations to see if it would work, and it does! I don't know about boxes that are thicker than that, but that is the only box I had around the house to give it a try.

The points on the tracing wheel are sharp as that's primarily the piece that "marks" an object. With use of tracing paper between your card stock and your tracing wheel to mark a stitch line, you could use the tracing wheel, hopefully without making holes in the card stock (don't press too hard). However, the mark will not be a stitch line; rather, more of a dotted line. You could try it - they are an inexpensive tool and could come in handy for other crafts if not for this task.
