The butterfly has a magnet attached to the bottom of it and the butterfly "hovers" over a flower with a magnet hidden inside. Love the look when this is sitting on a sunny window sill. I gave this a 4-star rating because when I ordered this 3-piece set and it was delivered, two of the clear plastic coverings were cracked. Ordered a second set to swap out the cracked plastic covers and gave the "good" sets to my sister to take to work to place on her desk.
