Very effective at removing oils
However gross it may sound, people's body oils and sunscreen residue won't come out of a thickly pleated cartridge filter (not the single pleated, I mean the $120 ones) just from rinsing. At the end of every pool season I will thoroughly rinse off the filter, I take a cup of this powder, mix it with HOT WATER and place it into it's filter housing (with the valves closed obviously) and let it soak in there for the entire time I am closing up the pool. At the end of the day (about 5hrs) I take the filter out and drain the filter housing of the oh-so-smelly water that was extracted from the filter then rinse everything thoroughly again. No, it will not be white like it's brand new (it never will), but I've removed all the oils and yuckies that would cause cloudy water and the filter is ready for next summer. This stuff is great!

The best filter cleaner I've ever used.
I think I have purchased just about every filter cleaner Spa Depot sells for over 20 years. (Plus a few others). I have oily skin, even after showering, and filters can be hard to clean. I follow the hot water directions and soak them overnight in a small plastic bucket. They rinse out quickly and completely with only one soaking.

1/2 cup product per 5 gallons water
This would be a 5 star review except I was frustrated that the container directions didn’t specify the ratio of product to water. I had to call customer support to get the information which I’ve made the subject of this review.I found https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLY3TVDM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share as a very good nozzle for cleaning filters. The the first picture shows the filters after removing from the pool. The second picture shows the filter after cleaning with the above nozzle. I used a large 44 gallon trash barrel with 30 gallons of water and 6 cups of product (1-1/2 jars). This enough to cover the 4 filters. Because of the holiday schedule I ended up soaking the filters for about a month, agitating them about every few days. The 3rd picture is after removing the filters from the solution and rinsing them with the above nozzle. I would note that the best evidence of effectiveness is the filthy water in the barrel.Edit: Note: the pictures are in the incorrect order when displayed in the review even though when I seem them editing the review, they are in the correct order.

Works well
I have a spare set of filters so I was able to let my dirty filters soak for two full days. After that they cleaned bright and white just like new.

Worth the little bit of mixing required!
I don’t normally write reviews but this product is worth taking a minute to share my experiences. I had previously been using the filter cleaner that was sold at my pool store (liquid, pour in the bucket with some water and… well you know the rest). I ran out and was too lazy to swing by the store and thought I’d check out what was available on Amazon. I saw the granular product and was intrigued that you could get multiple uses from a bottle and it was much cheaper, overall. Well, needless to say, this works MUCH better than the previous product than I was using. As soon as I put the filter in the bucket of hot water (mixed according to the direction),I was astounded at the crud that came out of the filter. I have never, EVER seen this amount of junk get released with a cleaning! I’m both horrified and impressed. I will never go back to my old product again. Give it a try. You won’t be sorry.

Did not save time cleaning filter, had to spray down 2x
I dumped an entire bottle into 50 gallon bin, pre-cleaned filter cartridges and let soak in hot hot water completely submerged for 90 minutes. (It only recommends 60 minutes). After pulling cartridges out, they were just as dirty but had loosened up the green gel between the folds. I had to completely spray them down again and they were still dirty. Not sure this was as good as advertised. The directions weren’t very specific. It says “pour a cup of cleaning solution into a bucket” does not provide specifics on how much water vs powder to use. Was hoping this would cut down on how long it takes to clean cartridges but it took me 3.5 hours to clean them this way. It would have been faster to spend more time spraying them thoroughly with a strong jet nozzle like I usually do.

Great product at a great price
One little caveat; not very precise directions for amount but probably not super critical

Works great!
Noticable performance improvement in our older filter after using this product! I just followed the directions using hot water, and it worked great.
