またまたお得なＣＤの登場。爽やかなジャケ写真で人気の２枚のアルバム"In Stockholm"と"ImportedFrom Europe"がそっくり収録されたアルバムだ。どちらも単独で出ていた国内盤はすでに入手困難なので、長年探していたゲッツのファンにはありがたい。しかも、かつてVerveと日本のDisc Unionから出ていた"Stockholm Session '58"(DIW-317/8)の音源に加え、Olufsenというレーベルから出ていた"In Denmark 1958-59"(DOCD-6011)から1958年の録音の５曲までもいっしょに収録されている。どちらも普通に入手困難なアルバムだっただけに、探していたゲッツ・ファンも多いのではないだろうか。それが聞けるのだから、こんなにうれしいことはない。内容はもちろん、申し分ない。ゲッツに駄作はないのだから。音質も問題なし。ＣＤというメディアの衰退が言われる昨今だが、こういうリリースがあるので、まだまだ配信などに走る必要はない。やっぱり音楽は、レコードの時代から連綿と続く「パッケージ商品」でなければいけないのだ。

Sorry to hear the previous reviewer received the single disc version. I was lucky enough to get the deluxe treatment for just short of £10. I'm tempted to say it was worth the price for "Over the rainbow" alone, but it's much more than that. Disc one is sublime and one of the best I've heard from the Master. Stockholm is a perfect balance of ballads and up tempo numbers as a quartet featuring just drums, bass and piano. By contrast, Imported from Europe is more fleshed out with additional trumpet, trombone and baritone on several tracks. I've only spun this once so far but it will be staying in the player for a good while I suspect.
