We purchased this for a camping trip. Our site did not have electricity, but we had to blow up an air mattress. We connected the converter to the car’s port, and it did not affect the car’s battery. Just make sure that you have your car on when using it. The converter did not overheat, and seemed to work well.

Check your device's power requirements before use. Also, keep in mind this draws power even when nothing's plugged in, so unplug it from the car when not in use to avoid draining your battery.One minor gripe: the power indicator light is quite bright, which can be distracting for night driving. Great size. It has 2 USB ports plus a 3-prong regular plug which allows both my husband and I to charge our cells plus I can plug in my laptop when we travel. It's quiet and it doesn't get hot like some others I've used.We have one in both our cars.
