Why does the black version have different supports than the other colors?

Don't know but I return my purchase after it broke during a camping trip, first use. If you toss or turn while sleeping it will collapse and break! If the ground is not level it will collapse and break! Spend the extra money on some thing better.

two questions: Are the legs adjustable for uneven ground? And has anyone put a 30 inch foam mattress on it?

Legs are not adjustable. Just look for a reasonably flat section of ground when you pitch your tent and you'll be fine. My husband and I slept on these in just sleeping bags and were fine. Haven't tried any foam mattress on top of it-- not necessary for comfort, they're good on their own, but a piece of foam would probably make the cots quieter to sleep on. Every time you shift around in your sleep the cot fabric kinda squeaks.

Does this work well being a 6 foot man? or does your feet hang off at the end?

This will not fit a 6ft. Person. I am 5'8" and it is perfect. Note that the cot is only 6" off the floor so if you are one to hang your feet off the end it would work!
