Who knew?
Zip-ties (or whichever of many names you prefer) seem to be one of those tools that causes amnesia: Once they've been in your toolbox for a while, you can't remember life without them. Long, short, heavy, light, color-coded - I think I use one kind or another weekly. So, when I heard that metal zip-ties existed, I had three immediate reactions:-- Steel? WTF?-- Wow!-- I need it.I mean, really need it. I'm doing some work on a dryer vent, where plastic ones would just melt. At best, they'd stop working; at worst, drip melted plastic or catch fire. Steel will hold strongly (the little catch on these works very well) and will take way more heat than our dryer should ever kick out. (If the steel ribbons can't take the heat, I have way worse things to worry about.)I got these for heat resistance. Stainless steel has other great properties, too: it resists corrosion, survives in sunlight, shrugs off solvents, and does at least as well against abrasion as any plastic. And, if you're a scriptwriter looking for improvised handcuffs - well, maybe Your Hero can break out of them, but he'll probably leave body parts behind.Don't stop there. If your Christmas tree is desperate for 'icicles,' these might work. They're malleable enough to twist or kink with your fingers, and should catch light nicely.-- wiredweird

Will hold well if you fold the ends.
They don't always give a firm grip and most of the time they will back out if you treat them like a normal zip tie. I've found it best to fold then end up once you pull it thru. Then they hold just fine.

Rusted
Used a dozen of these on my boat and after one year they have all rusted and will need to be replaced.

Will Not Hold
Will not hold together if applied to anything that moves. Apparently vibration is enough for it to just come apart. Do not waste your time or money on these - pay for a better-made product.

I used these to wire a pig spine to a rotisserie... Strange use I know but they worked better then expected. I was able to tighten up the zip ties as the pig shrunk and it held everything together.

These ties seem to be quite strong but I had trouble getting them tight. you can't just pull them tight. every time you release, you lose tension as the catch ball locks into place. I pulled the tail with pliers and stuck a pick through the clasp and pushed the catch ball down and It worked pretty good. they have stayed tight on my header wrap for a couple months now.
