Insightful
We are trying to help a brother with his long-term addiction to painkillers. This book gave us insight into the world of addiction and steps that we as a family can take to help him overcome and conquer this disease. Knowing that it is a disease and not a personal choice was eye-opening.

The rampant abuse of prescription drugs explained!
I have purchased several copies of this book (for friends and relatives) over the years. It's one of the best books available on the topic of prescription drug addiction. I recommend it highly.

Paper preview gives you a lot more than kindle FREE sample
I read the preview of the paperback version of this book and liked it. It skipped around so I thought I'd try the Kindle version. So I downloaded the "read first chapter free" option. It was so brief and NOT the first chapter in its entirety as promised. I wonder how many other Kindle Free Samples are that abbreviated. Anyway, if I was rating on the Kindle version I wouldn't even consider buying it and would give it one star. But with the paper preview it looks like a good read that I will purchase, paperback version please !

good book
this is a good book as it tells you all the basic information. but it doesn't talk much about medications to treat painkiller addiction. what if you can't afford to go somewhere for treatment?but it was easy to read and has alot of information

Makes the connection through personal stories of Recovery
Prescription Drug Addiction will have a personal connection with many addicts, abusers, families and those in recovery. It will educate and provide very telling statistical information. Unfortunately, with all the information and varied treatment the problem is not improving. In fact the latest statistics show that almost 50,000 needless deaths occur every year due to Prescription painkillers alone. Books like this can help save lives. I highly recommend it.Dr. Michael J. Extremely helpful
This is so helpful if you have someone who is addicted to prescription drugs. It helps you understand the person so much more as it is hard to understand generally. The author is a doctor and his brother died of prescription drugs so that makes it even more personal and powerful as he obviously cares a great deal for the topic. There are different stories from real people and tips as well. Of course the tips won't really help unless the person who is addicted wants help, but it's still interesting and hopefully it could also help the person in question as if they're ready to get out of this spiral, I'm sure it would really help them without judgment.
