Can it accommodate grapefruits or large oranges? Cone and cup look small.

Yes! I mostly do large grapefruits with it. You have to use your hand instead of the pull-down "cap", but I use my hands for everything because I like the control and it extracts the maximum juice. The motor is so powerful that you can't slow it down.

what is the material the cone is made off?

The black cone is hard plastic and the wider clear cone is polycarbonate plastic .
