You can accomplish the same using a standard manifold and a separate 2 channel thermometer, but you'll have to do the math for subcooling and superheating. Also, it can do pressure leak testing. I used it for the former, not the latter, and it works well.

This HVAC guage is not only a digital pressure gauge it also can measure temperature in two different locations. What I believe is the best feature is that if you are also measuring temperature the guage calculates Superheat and Subcooling real time. It does this automatically without having to fumble with charts, tables, a calculator or even use a separate divice to measure temperature. It allowed me to accurately add refrigerant to a refrigerator, that had lost charge through a slight leak over the years, using the preferred superheat method. To be fair I did not check the pressure accuracy of the guage. However, it is accurate enough for me and the above refrigerator is as cold as it was when new. Even the instruction booklet is clear. To get these features in a "Professional" digital guage would easily cost 3 times the price. I am totally happy with this purchase.

Yellow Vacuum/intake line has a leak at the joint. I emailed the company for a solution. No reply. I emailed them again and 3 days later I got a response back to contact Amazon for a replacement. I contacted Amazon and got a response back saying its past the 30 day return policy and that I need to contact the seller. Round and round we go. If you are going to sell some garbage, atleast do some quality controls and test it before it goes out the door.

Makes my job must easier and proficient when working on hvac systems. The only thing I didn’t noticed when purchasing, there’s no holders for clamps.

We own/manage a lot of properties. HVAC techs are getting harder to find and more expensive every year. Unable to find one this spring I ordered this digital manifold. It literally does most of the thinking for you making easy work out of a recharge or check charge. Couple of cons: 1. Does not come with shut off valves at the end of the lines. Was able to purchase them on Amazon for $22. This is important so there is less refrigerant lost it’s expensive! 2. It takes 4AA batteries that are NOT included. Again no big deal however if your planning to use it the day you get it but 4AA’s. 3. The case is extremely nice however the line sets must be unhooked to case it losing even more refrigerant. These are minor for the cost of this manifold. Time will tell how long it holds up but I’m hopeful taken care of in the case it will last for a few seasons.

Temperature clamps are cheap and break fairly easily, but the manifold itself is pretty decent and is accurate. Unfortunately, my manifold started to read negative or zero for my liquid gauge pressures after a few weeks of use, so now I just use the hoses to charge a system rather than rely on it to measure refrigerant pressures.
