Used this is the shop for 2 days now and the visual quality is great the color is a true color with no green blue or yellow tint, the most realistic looking color iv seen though a auto lens ever. Time will tell how it holds up to the real abuse of boilermaker fieldwork.

Bought one last Christmas and still going strong, heavy welding( 55hours weekly) using pulse MIG and flux core with some stick, perfect shade, definitely recommend

I’m not a professional welder! I’m a diy guy that just likes to do everything himself. I got this and installed it in my new carbon fiber CMR pancake helmet. I cut my teeth using a regular flip down hood. But The glare you get from behind you on the lens sucks. Makes it tough to start a bead at times. So I switched to a pancake style and it’s a huge difference. It’s like I’m welding now in high definition!!! I left this auto-lens out in the sun for 4hrs or so prior to installing it. Just wanted to give it a good charge. Once installed I set up my mig machine and started laying down a bead. This lens quickly goes dark as soon as an arc is striked. And takes abt one second to go back to clear after the arc is gone. I tried leaving my pancake helmet on while I was grinding, but it kept going from dark to light. Reminds me of someone flipping a light switch on and off. The sparks were setting off the auto shade. Anyways I like this auto shade much better than my traditional shaded hood. I’ll never go back!

Let me start by saying that before using this Lens I was almost opposed to auto len's. This was mainly due to having only used auto lens in a typical auto lens helmet, which I always found would burn my neck because they're too short for me. Right out of the box I used the lens in my pipeliner fibre metal helmet. I welded at 50-125 amps with FCAW and it worked flawlessly, I then used it at school to weld TIG, from 70-125 amps, It worked amazingly for that application as well. I welded on a friends 6G project using 1/8 6010's and it worked great there too. The lens changes quickly, doesn't fatigue my eyes, and works awesome in a variety of welding scenarios. I was deciding between this ($126) and a miller lens that my instructor uses that cost around $80. After reading reviews on the miller I saw that people after a few months would get flashed by the lens, meaning that it would randomly turn off when welding. Sure enough, a week after I started using mine, my instructors lens started malfunctioning. I will also mention that this lens is solar powered, but I think it has the ability to charge by the arc while welding, because I have been using this lens non stop for two weeks, 10 hours a day and I haven't charged it once. This lens takes some getting used to, you don't have to flick your head down, and you don't have to raise your helmet after each pass, I am still trying to get used to those things. All in all it is a great lens, maybe not for the DYI because of the price, but if you can afford it go for it. I will update my review if I run into any problems with the lens. EDIT: I now use the Lens six days a week, 10-12 hours a day at work and have been doing so for 5-6 months and have still had no problems with the Lens. I now realize another huge benefit to this lens, it does not take batteries!. I cannot even try to count the number of workers around me that have to continuously use their old worn out passive lens helmets because their new vikings, or balders batteries are dead, not with mine! EDIT EDIT: I've now had the lens for over a year, and have still been using it non-stop 10-12 hours a day 5-7 days a week and have had absolutely no issues what so ever. EDIT (x3) I have now been using the lens for over three years nearly everyday and can say it is flat out awesome!

Beautiful clarity in light state and crisp blue color in dark state with consistent shade throughout the entire shade. Fast response from light to dark and acceptable medium delay from dark to light. Highly reccomend if you're gonna do a lot of welding or if you just want to treat yourself to something good.
