Yes a 12 year old could wear it. It's very great for day trips or hiking or man can carry 2 guns in the back pocket. The comment I saw about someone cutting up a little boy..is ignorant and dumb. The buyer was not thinking that way obviously.

The strap itself is about 2-2.5” in width. I haven’t had any issues with it digging into my shoulder, it usually stays comfortably, and I usually use it as a quick to go bag for my toddler.
