Hampton Nautical K-0272-W Whitewashed Cast Iron Hanging Ship's Bell, 6"

This bell was exactly what I was looking for. To hang on my front door frame. Substantial size and weight, and unlike other reviews, mine arrived completely assembled. Luckily I had 3 black screws that fit perfectly, as screws were not supplied. The sound is loud and clear. Very happy with the bell and would recommend. Sales price of $24.99 beat all other internet sellers (Wayfair is selling for $35, others for $45 - sorry, although it's a great product, I would not pay more than the $25 I paid).

This bell is great. It is heavy and sturdy. We do not have a farm in the country or acres of property, but when I ring this bell, which is mounted on my kitchen wall, my animals (wife and daughter) come running for food. The bell is loud, but pleasing, and suits the decor of our New York City colonial farmhouse.

I read all of the reviews about receiving the item broken but this bell seemed to be just what I was looking for.I should have listened because sure enough, I received mine and it was broken.I will not try to have it replaced because if it can get broken in a double boxed shipping package that shows no obvious damage then there is no way that it will hold up on a playground.Now I am off to continue the search....

The clapper was held in with nothing more than a piece of flimsy bent wire. A bread bag tie would have been better. The pull is nothing more than 6 or 8 inches of the cheapest cotton string available. After fixing it myself, the clapper barely reaches the side of the bell. The sound is very tinny and has no resonance. This so called bell might make a good fishing weight, but that's about it.

Looks great, very loud pleasing bell tone. Great for when we are at the back of the yard (3 acre yard) when company comes.
