TealyraYunnan Golden Special - Black Loose Leaf Tea - Best Chinese Black Tea - Perfect Morning Tea - 220g (8-ounce)

Great afternoon tea, you need to measure it with a scale though
This isn't really a breakfast tea. The flavor is light and complex for a black tea. But that's just all yunnan's, so unless you're new to tea, that isn't unexpected.Flavors are chocolatey and malty, very subtle and fragrant. I wouldn't touch it with milk or sugar, all of the flavor would be completely lost. There's no astringency or bitterness, and next to no tannins.Well packaged, nary a broken leaf in the bag. Leaves are large and beautifully rolled with lots of golden tips.Yunnan teas tend to be super "volumetric" so you can't just use a spoon to measure it. Either do some trial and error and "eyeball" a good amount (it's more than you'd think, but the bag has plenty in it) or pick up a cheap precision pocket scale that drug dealers use. I find 2.5-3 grams of tea per 8 oz water is perfect, so 8 grams of tea in my 24oz teapot is perfect.

LOVE THIS BLACK TEA
I lived in Taiwan in the late 1950ās. My dad was USArmy. My mother always drank tea so she loved all the oolong varieties. My brother and I learned to drink our iced tea brewed with a local black tea. No sugar was needed. I loved to go to the tea shop with our Amah. This has superior flavor with a beautiful color. No sweetener is needed. And oh the aroma! This is a wonderful black tea. Measure it by weight or use a pinch . You need a small pinch with one finger and thumb for a cup and one large loose pinch with thumb and three fingers for One L. Or one Quqrt.

Given time, it'll grow on you...
I purchased it at the same time I also got a Yunnan Dian Hong from another company, and at first was less impressed with this Yunnan Golden Special. This in part was due to my looking for a particular variety of so-called "red" tea that I could never seem to find in the U.S.. But the more I have tried this Golden Special (and the more favorable comments I have heard from friends I have served it to), the more I like it! I find many Yunnan teas (especially featuring "golden buds") can have a distinctive malty, even slightly sour aftertaste. However, this tea (to my taste) has a wonderful balance of sweetness and smoothness that makes me want to drink more than I should. (And this is even more the case when you add a bit of honey.. :-) Great stuff and I'd recommend it to any lover of Chinese black teas.

Pleasant brew
I'm not a tea expert, but this tea meets my preferences. I brewed the tea per the label instructions. I like the smooth flavor of this tea. I would not call the flavor intense, but neither is it bitter. I drank it without sugar or milk and it was very nice. I was concerned when I opened the mylar bag and saw a coating of dust on the inside. The brew was clear of dust, there was no sediment in the bottom of the cup. The container inner surface material attracts and holds the dust out of the tea you spoon out.

Simply Delightful
Simply the best tea my wife and I have tasted to date. Holds up very nicely to two steeps. chocolate and caramel notes are pronounced. This has become our daily drinker. More expensive than we would like, but this is the best Yunnan for our taste, and we are worth the extra spend :)This tea does have an extremely high caffeine rating for good reason, it will get you going in the morning.

I don`t like the flavor and it does not leave me feeling good ā plus expensive
Have not experimented with teas lately but I normally like most all varieties -- but despite price about as high as I`ve ever paid, this left me very unsatisfied, even regretful. To me, it tastes something like shampoo and requires sweetening just to cover it up. Usually am not big on sweetening. Have not tried other brands of the same type -- unfortunately this is one of few recent tea experiments and it is a bit discouraging to new exploration. Not sure whether to avoid the brand or just the type, or even neither.

Great Tea - Extremely Bad Packaging for Shipping
5 Stars for the tea, 1 star for the packaging. This shipped separately from the rest of my order, in a bubble wrap envelope. These are my comments to Amazon's packaging feedback listing:I am very disappointed with the packaging for this order. I ordered Yunnan Golden Special Black Loose Leaf Tea - Organic (4oz / 110g). This is a sealed bag of loose leaf tea. Very nice tea and I am extremely pleased with the flavor of this tea. I has an interesting flavor and certainly is Special. A bag of loose leaf tea is very fragile. In fact, tea in loose leaf form is more expensive and more flavorful than "tea bag" tea. The larger leaves are the feature that increases it's flavor and Value. When this fragile sealed bag of tea is packaged for shipping in a bubble wrap envelope, well it boggles my mind. I would expect that a small box would be necessary. It should be evident that it would need more protection from the rigors of shipping. This bag has many broken leaves reducing value.

Wonderful malty flavor!
Great Yunnan tea with wonderful malty flavor. Only real problem with it is that the very large leaves (which have beautiful gold tips, BTW) won't really fit properly in my little spring tea balls, so I'm going to order a glass tea pot with a large built-in infuser. I'm going to order some more of this before the supplies in the US give out.

Delicious
Delicious with natural mildly spicy sweetness. No astringency. Beautiful colour and gorgeous leaves before and after being steeped. Just a bit pricey, but you get well over 50 cuppas out of 110g (100 or more cups if you steep the leaves twice, the second brew is also nice, milder obviously)

Average
If this would be my first Dian Hong, I tried, I would give five stars. But since it isn't- it is what it is.

Waste of money
The tea had no taste. I was hoping for a warm well rounded flavour. I will not be able to drink the rest of the tea. I paid nearly £30.00 on the order. I feel it was a waste of money.
