If your kid likes trains and cars, this is a winner that your toddler will enjoy over a long time. The cars by themselves also can run on the same wooden train tracks, although they don't have any magnets. Our toddler likes to take the cars with him when we go out of the house. And when playing with his trains he'll do the actions of opening the ramps for each car and driving the car onto the ramp and folding it onto boxcar, then connecting them all together on the track with the magnets and watching them go. It's a nice extra interaction to add to the train set instead of just adding on a line of boxcars by magnets. Moreover, the train cab opens and there is a train engineer that can be taken in and out! Also a fun thing to interact with. Kind of wish that the front steam train also had a magnet in the front of the train, but still great value without it. Admittedly, our toddler (at 2 years old, which is earlier than recommended) was frustrated by how the boxcar ramps worked at first, but eventually caught on and it became a favorite within a few weeks.
