I’ll start by saying this—the flanges in the boxes don’t work for anyone with larger than “average” nipples, but how should I know if my nipples are average? I have above average nipples, I guess? At any rate, I struggled for six weeks, not realizing there were alternative size flanges that could be ordered online. Matter of fact, I didn’t even BF with my first baby because I didn’t know these existed; I just assumed the well was dry and I wasn’t able to provide for my daughter. Flash forward and a friend mentioned larger flanges and my entire world changed! The milk, oh my, was I able to produce the milk! Thanks to these little (or big, I suppose) flanges, I felt so much comfortable! Also, because they’re larger, they’re easier to clean! I could wash these by hand easily and quickly instead of waiting them to run through the dishwasher.

I felt like Goldilocks trying to find the right size shields. I tried the 2 sizes that came with the pump that were too small, then went to 36mm which were too big. Also all of the shields I tried were so uncomfortable and left ring indents on my skin after pumping that hurt! I could tell immediately after the first use with these that they were so much better but wanted to wait until I used them for a few weeks and could really see a difference to write a review. I’m not so sure I saw an increase in the amount pumped but there is definitely a difference in how I feel! They are so comfortable! My nipples are no longer bruised and I no longer cringe and wince while pumping! I highly suggest give these a try! They are so much more comfortable than the hard plastic ones!! Also, I read a few comments that the tunnel that connects to the pump is too short and I just want to say I disagree with that. The tunnel is about 1-1.5 inches and stays on very well. I’ve had no issues!

I'm pretty busty....40G to be exact. I assumed I should use the larger shields (24mm) that came with my Medela Swing Maxi. I've been using them for months taking the discomfort. I thought maybe I needed larger shields and ordered the 30mm. When I used them there was no more pain but the suction wasn't the same and my milk collection was less than before. After doing research I learned I should have measured before ordering. After watching a few videos and trying the 21mm shields that also came with my pump they were a perfect fit. So large breasts don't necessarily mean you need a larger shield.
