Keeps the water off!
I have had this tarp for over a year. The first few times I used it was to cover my hammock during winter camping trips. On one of these trips I had it in constant rain for 3 days and 2 nights, and my bedding and hammock stayed dry all weekend. The PU coating and taped seams keep the water out, completely. The square(ish) shape and generous tie out tabs make it versatile for rigging all types of tarp shelters. It is a bit heavier than some of the higher end silnylon offerings, but in the bang for buck department it really is great value, super waterproof, and built like a tank.

Best tarp I've ever owned
Nice design and good construction, but not worth the added cost. I bought this tarp for a birthday bugout trip into the national forest. Also bought a Free Soldier tarp for a second bugout bag I let a friend use. Both were being used for the first time. While the design of the Chill Gorilla tarp blocked the wind better, the limited number of tie-down points restricted how many configurations were available, while the Free Soldier tarp also blocked the wind really well, but had more than double the tie-down straps and had superior durability for literally 50% the cost. I bought 2 more Free Soldier tarps after my trip.I did not receive any incentive to write this review or to compare products. I have no affiliation with either product manufacturer.

Love it!
Was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and usability of this tarp at this price point. Just got back from using it on a long, windy, rainy weekend in the woods. Tarp performed phenomenally. The abundance of tie outs was a major selling point for me when selecting this tarp. Made setting up much easier and much more secure in the winds we had this weekend. Stayed warm and dry all weekend despite the steady rain through the first night and high winds through the second night. The waterproofing is well done. Surprised to find that it didn't bleed through. First morning I woke up to see one of my bags had gotten pushed against the tarp during the night and even though it had rained steady most of the night, no moisture had bled through the fabric where contact was made. The one change I would LOVE to see is the addition of a couple of tie out loops inside along the ridge line. To be able to hang a bug net inside during the summer months would take this great tarp to the next level.

Be careful of ridgeline seam
man oh man. I waste more money trying to find a decent product. I did a bunch of research on this tarp. It checked all of the boxes except for quality control, I guess. It arrived today. Was careful unboxing and checking it out. Started to try a few common tarp pitches in the backyard as shown on various YouTube vids. All was well when the perimeter loops are anchored. Then I tried to use a trekking pole at the sewn ridge line as a prop. I'm aware of what can be too tight so acted with caution. I loosened up the pole to extent to make a peak and , RRRRRipppp. wtf?Upon inspection, I see why it failed. The sewn on loop is about 3/4" wide and the ridge seal is about a 1/2" wide. The loop has a pretty serious zig zag stick to secure it which is nice, BUT, it poked enough holes into the material, that wasn't doubled or tripled up to form the seam, That it basically cut it like a knife. darn darn darn.I stopped right there. Wrapped it up in a trash bag and threw it in the recycle bin. Oh well. Another inferior product.I don't expect miracles but I expect it to last longer than thirty minutes. After some though, I pulled it back out of the recycle bin. I'm probably going to try to salvage it by using a strip of duct tape at the locations along the ridge line, I believe there are five, to act as another means of fabric support. As I see it, one way to fix this is to have the ridge seam at least an inch or better yet an inch and a quarter wide, maybe even an inch and a half wide. It needs to be the most robust portion on the tarp since its where the two halves are joined together.I'll end up fixing it with duct tape and keep it for a shade awning when van camping. Oh well.Peace,~RL

Value for money
Firstly, I have not used this tarp properly yet so this review is ‘desktop’ based. The material whilst not the lightest, does seem to be of good quality, the edges are trimmed in orange tape which in all honesty I like - it looks pretty good and also helps to avoid stupid trips! The edge loops are sewn to reinforcing patches and the ridge loops also have eyelets which is very good. This review gives the tarp 4 stars because at the price, it is good value for money - for similar features I would normally expect to pay $70-$80 usd.Where this tarp drops a star (and a half) is the slight lack of quality control. The stitching is not the best and one of the loops was only single straight stitched. Also (not pictured) the ridge seam tape was not fully adhered to the fabric at the ends which could result in peel off over time but given the location, should not affect the water resistance.I should point out that for me, none of the qc issues are a major deal breaker and I look forward to using this tarp - hopefully the manufacturer will see this review and make some minor improvements to QC and turn out a five star worthy tarp.

More than I expected.
I just wanted something to get me through one trip until I could finish building a custom hammock tent. I'll be honest, I think the logo makes it look a little cheap. The fact is, it's not. It's put together well. Stitching in parts seems almost overkill which usually turns out to be exactly what i need. I used this over my hammock while hunting in Colorado this year. There weren't any torrential rains, but there was enough to make me glad I had it, and comfortable with the idea of relying on it in worse situations. There were some strong winds at times, and it held strong and didn't stretch as I cranked down the lines. It has lots of attachment points which offers a flexibility I like. It may not be a big name brand, but for the price I'm very impressed with the quality.

Quality Control??? Updated - Great customer service
I really wanted to like this tarp and I was impressed when it came. It looked pretty good but upon closer examination, I found an area about 4" long on one of the sides where the orange seam was not sewn at all to the tarp. Quality control is lacking with Free Soldier I guess because this was pretty obvious and not easy to miss. Too bad, it looked promising. Amazon was kind enough to accept a return even after the return window closed. I guess you get what you pay for.Update Oct/2018Free Soldier reached out to me after seeing this review I guess and sent me a free tarp. I will have to try it out as I have been using my OneTigris tarp in the summer. I am very impressed with their commitment to customer service and the fact they sent me a tarp for free. They of course want me to change my review if I am happy with the product. I have changed my review to 3 stars due to the customer service part, and I will further change my rating once I actually get to try the tarp out.

Lightweight, durable and central grommets
Good tarp, worked well as a shelter and a tent footprint. Took it camping and having used tarps before for both, I think it functioned well. I like the weight of it: light. The central grommets were really what I was looking for and they held well under wind and rain. Would buy it again.Only dislike is the hunting orange outline, but that's not a make or break for me. This is a good outside, camping tarp that is well made and lightweight for its large size.Edit- used this tarp for protection on a trip when isolated on an island during a lightning storm. This thing held up to the winds and rain and the reinforced grommets and loops held up.I pack this for every trip and its been great.

Love it
I've had many tarps and this is the best I've used so far. Very durable yet light material with tabs in all the right places. Made it very easy to pitch and held great under extremely windy and rainy conditions. Highly recommend it!

Used twice now - Great.
I have used twice now, and really suites my needs. The seams & tie points are good quality. I have used as Holden tent & as shelter for hammock. The guy ropes are generous, and with the ridge seem, is very easy to fold and pack. Good size, the ridge tie points provide a lot of versatility. Very happy.

Sizing is great, issues with quality.
The size of this tarp is great. I used it this weekend with my Hennessy Hammock. It’s isn't too heavy, however I wasn’t backpacking a long distance so maybe it would be noticeable if that were the case. The stitching however on some of the seems is very poor, and coming apart. I’m not sure if I got a bad tarp that was missed by quality control, or if they’re all like that. For that reason I’m giving it a low review, of the manufacturer would like to do something about this, I’m willing to adjust the review.
