Adorable book!
I saw this book over at a friend’s and went home and ordered it immediately. I loved the story and all the interaction that comes from turning the pages! Highly recommend!

So fun, love the cadence
So fun to read. Gave it four stars because we love the original so much more, but this one is good too!

Was disappointed in this book
I have bought a number of these books. Dogs, cats, pets, etc. My granddaughter and I have enjoyed reading and looking at these books together. This one, to me, felt like the author felt he needed to write a book and through this together. Mer kids learning to dance. Swish, swish, swish, swish............ and on about 10 more times. Twist, twist, twist........................ and on about 10 more times. I have to say there is not much I liked about this book and I feel kind of bad saying that. I suggest you buy the other ones that are so much better

The last pop up page tore as soon as I opened the book
I had high hopes for this book after looking at it in a bookstore. However, the tabs are a little difficult for small hands to pull. There isn't much "movement" in the pulling. And the last page, which is a pop up page, tore right down the middle as soon as I opened the book fully. Not really happy with this purchase.

Fun for fans of mermaids
Board Books are usually pretty unexpensive — less than $10 is the going rate for a large majority. So when one with a larger price tag — $21.99 in the case of Mermaid Dance — comes along, I find myself questioning, “Is it worth the expense?” In the case of Mermaid Dance, that depends. When you pick up Mermaid Dance, the cost is clear. The book is hefty. At 9.5 x 1.9 x 7 inches it’s about double the size of a standard board book. It’s heavier, too. The book features six tabs that make the mermaids and animals “dance” when you pull and push them. Everything about the book is sturdy, except perhaps the final pop-up page, which a toddler could easily tear or bend.Mathew Can Fleet’s peppy text has a rhythmic lilt that lends to dancing, and kids will love acting out the moves with Mara Van Fleet’s sweet illustrations.I can see toddlers who like mermaids really loving Mermaid Dance. And if I had more than one child, or planned on having more than one child, I would definitely consider the investment. Older siblings would get a kick out of reading this out loud to a younger brother or sister.
