Toupret Wood Repair Filler 1kg

Fills deep holes (>4cm deep and 10cm wide for me) and dries solid without sagging. Easy to use and work with.Used to replace rotted wood which had to be removed. I used Rustins wood hardener to make the remaining wood solid first.I wanted to use this in winter, but from memory I think it needs to be at least 7°C so had to wait for warmer weather.Easy to sand to a smooth surface once set.I used both this and the 2-part Ronseal filler and there wasn't a lot in it in terms of performance. Not sure about longevity yet.

Great product! Used to repair and wooden window frame. Wood hardener first and then used this and it filled some fairly big gaps with no snagging. Mix with water so really easy to use. Sets hard within a couple of hours and easily sandable the following day.

I must admit that I’d never heard of this make but it was mentioned in an article I was reading on refurbishement of a property so I thought that I would give it a try.To use it, you add water to an amount of the powder; give it a good mix and smooth it in to whatever you are filling. It gives plenty of time before it starts setting. The bonus comes once set, when you need to smooth it down to match existing surfaces. It smooths so easily and leaves an almost perfect finish to stain or paint or whatever. I don’t use anything else now !My ratings - 9/10 for usefulness; 9/10 for value for money !

Nice stuff, loads in a packet will last years, keep dry and it will never go off.

I bought this as a general wood filler as I upcycle a lot of furniture. I haven't used it as a wood filler yet, so I can't comment on mixing, drying or sanding, but I have mixed it with paint and used it for raised stencilling and it's incredible. I mixed a few teaspoons with my paint colour to create a paste, more wet than hard, then spread it over my stencil. It's crisp and dried beautiful overnight

I thought I'd try this for several reasons. Firstly, I'd used the Toupret masonry filler previously and found it to be an excellent product. Secondly, I had some deeper gaps to fill so wanted a product that had (in the words on the pack) 'No depth limit'. Bearing in mind the quantity of filler you get when mixed with water, this product is inexpensive when compared to the 'ready made' wood filler. When I did the job, I used about three quarters of the box (which is 1kg), but would have expected to use several tubs of the ready mix.I am also encouraged by the fact that this filler is in powder form, having found that once opened, the ready mixed stuff has a tendency to harden inside its container, meaning that any leftover becomes useless. This being powder, I'm hoping that if I keep it dry I'll be able to use the remainder for any small jobs that crop up and not find out I have to go out and buy another tube or tub of filler.The only criticism (and it's a small one) is that it's difficult to assess whether the right consistency has been reached. The box merely states 330ml of water to 1kg of filler. Now you might be prepared to weigh out a smaller amount and adjust the water content accordingly, but that's a bit of a faff. Fortunately I've used wood filler many times in the past and know roughly how 'stiff' it should be so made it up to the consistency of the ready made product, as far as I could tell.The result has been great. I mixed it up in an old rectangular ice cream tub, which made using it a lot easier to take out with a filler knife and push the filler into the required gaps. Most ready made tubs are round, making it difficult to remove a 'filler knife full' of product because you can't push it against the side.According to the box, it takes 3 hours to dry (to be paintable that is), but I left it overnight and next day it was solid and seems like it will last well. Obviously I can't comment at this time on it's durability or longevity, but if you want the volume and flexibility of mixing the amount you need, then this is a great product.
