Great Canister Filter
This filter is fantastic! I own a fluval FX4 and it's a power house of a filter, but cleaning it is a major job. This filter with it's pre-filter clean out makes the maintenance so easy. The filter is made of real quality parts and materials. It was easy to setup and it is extremely quiet. There are other people who have said they are having problems with air bubbles. This is not the case here. Yes you do get some air purge after you do maintenance but it's all gone after a short period. If you follow the setup exactly, this filter will perform wonderfully. My FX4 purges more air bubbles than my Oase. Great product, highly recommended....

Efficient and quiet.
Love this filter. Lots of room for media and the prefilter is a great feature. I've heard some have issues with it being noisy but mine is very quiet. I upgraded the prefilter sponges to a more fine texture so the main baskets don't dirty as quickly. Looking to get a second to have two on my 75g... hopefully I have the same experience!

I'm Liking It A Lot So Far
Just set this unit up. It was very straight forward. Heating the tube in hot water and clamping the hand nuts down made water tight seals out of the gate. With no water added, the priming button was easy to push. Two pumps and I could hear the water gravity feed into the canister. A couple additional pushes cleared some additional air out. It's very quiet. The foam filter driven by air and is far louder with the bubbling action. It seems to provide good flow across the 48" length of my 90 gallon. The levers and latches are easy to use. It's all plastic, so it probably could be broken with abuse but it seems study enough. I have not fitted the Oase heater yet, but that will make the whole setup very unobtrusive. I have not had to clean it yet, but washing all the media and foams on the new unit makes it appear that will be easy enough. I'm hopeful that regular weekly pre-filter cleaning will make for greatly extended full canister cleanings. The pre-filter is very easy to access. I do have the unit in a catch tray in my stand for what I expect to be a little water burbs and incidental drips on removal of the pre-filter..

So far impressed.
Absolute unit. Currently have the Thermo 600 set up for my 75 Gal and it’s doing an amazing job. Easy to set up, the priming function works like a charm. Integral heater has kept it at a constant 78 degrees at multiple tested spots in the tank.Pre filter is easy to clean and one of the big reasons I got it.The supplied media is a bit lacking. I purchase several boxes of eheim bio and mech media to fill it up as it’s basically just foam and plastic balls that float and are a pain. Kept one foam at the bottom, eheim mech in the second and then three trays of eheim substrat (one level is from my old filter to jump start), top tray is filter floss and a carbon pad for right now (new tank set up).Switched from an Eheim classic and really like the ease of cleaning this filter compared the old green bucket. Really like the built in heater. Makes the tank look much cleaner. The filter is a heavy beast to take out when it’s full of media and water. The handle on top is robust enough though so it shouldn’t be an issue.

2nd Year Review - Hard to Clean - Still Terrible to prime to get flow
I have owned the 600 for almost 2 years now - This unit is somewhat hard to clean - cleaning a canister is a messy job so be prepared to be at a slopsink or something. My biggest issue is to start this unit up it can be a pain in the butt to get it primed and flowing, even after filling the canister with water. Often after you get everything back together and get it all set back up plug it in and it just wont flow or seems to have no power. I believe this is a trapped air problem but the hand pump doesn't move enough air to really help much leaving you pumping it over and over. The levers on this unit have sticking issues when trying to slide them and can be a major scrape hazard for your hands against the latches, be careful. The heater works well, once the system is up and running it does the job well, come cleaning time though its a process to get everything back up and going.
