I'm an extreme car audio DIY-er. I ran out of and couldn't seem to locate my usual sound-damping spray which I've been using for decades, Cascade Audio VB-1S Pro Quiet Kote. I was hesitant at first but purchased a couple of cans of Boom MAT and I'm totally satisfied. It's quite a bit less expensive than the Quiet Kote, and from what I can tell just as effective and just as easy to apply, and less smelly. Note - this will not reduce airborne (road) noise. For that you need a vinyl barrier. This stuff reduces vibrations and resonances from speakers, especially more robust aftermarket speakers that people like me add to their cars. I sprayed one can of this inside each door cavity on top of two layers of damping sheets, and then on the sheet metal behind the door panel as well. The results are pretty amazing. Combined with a bunch of Tesa tape and some other techniques, my doors are DEAD and they don't rattle or vibrate at all. This means your music sounds like music and nothing else.

You are paying extra for a special label on a can of regular paintable rubberized undercoating you can get from any auto supply shop. Coverage is horrible. Nozzles are horrible, constantly clogging and blobbing. Given it is just undercoating, I can't see how it adds any mass to act as a sound deadener. There is a reason it is in a spray compared to other more proven sound deadeners like lizard skin. DEI usually makes good products, not this one.

After the item arrived i prepared my vehicle then went to work spraying this product on my front wheel wells of my 2018 Nissan Rogue I was able to put two coats on both front wheel wells after drying , I let the vehicle sit over night and then drove it on the roads that made most of the noise inside my SUV. Well I gotta say it made a 100% difference in deadening the road noise inside my car . I have since ordered two more cans so I can put two more coats on the front wheel wells and add two coats to the rear wheel wells. I am totally impressed in how well it worked and can’t wait to add two more coats for the final . Thank you and I highly recommend this product.

Used one spray bomb in one rear fender well approx 6 sq ft...second spray bomb in other side and have no quieter results. Got some rockguard...same stuff...half the cost. Do not recommend. Used on chev spark.
