Very pleased with this two volume set. It is incredibly comprehensive but still readable. Plenty of large, clear, colour images and tables. Should be a staple for any cardiology trainee.

A high quality multi-author cardiology book with a long pedigree. Good points are the new edition is very up to date with detailed information that is mostly comprehensive. The downside is that the style is a bit variable with multiple authors. Also there is a strange system for making some of the text smaller as if it is literally the more fine print stuff. Another main criticism is the inclusion of vast quantities of survival curves which take up massive amounts of space on pages but add little information. Finally many of the figure are pulled directly from the primary literature. Unfortunately many figures in the primary literature are just lots of arrows and names of molecules that are poorly thought out, hastily contrived and lack the uniform clarity of figures that are specifically designed to be integrated into the book. Bit lazy pulling in all these rather stilted figures.

Braunwald’s Heart Disease, 12th., remains at the number one position among cardiovascular medicine textbooks. Peter Libby has brought together the icons of the field and they have produced yet another cutting-edge textbook! Everyone in the field should have it at their disposal!
