I love these bags and I will continue to buy them. I learned about them while I was in the hospital and needed an ice pack. This is the icepack brand and model my hospital uses. The only possible (and I stress "possible") negative about them is that, the blue plastic clip that holds each bag shut (and has to be opened to put the ice in the bag) is hard to open, at least for me it was in the beginning. However, I am a senior and the strength in my hands/fingers is not the best. The clip may not be difficult for other people. I did get used to opening the clips but I was into my second order before I finally got the hang of it. I suspect that they are made to be hard to open in order to ensure a tight seal on the bag once the ice is in it. And it does just that. I use ice packs all the time. These bags don't leak even if all that is left is pure water after all the ice has melted. The bags have a cloth-like feel, so I don't need a towel or cloth between me and the ice bag. This ensures that I get maximum relief without having to put pressure on the bag. The shape of these bags is perfect too, at least for me. The long skinny design fits into places that other ice bags do not. Also, the ice lasts a long time so I'm guessing that whatever material has been used in the manufacture of these bags is a good insulator. Finally, the price is affordable and I reuse my bags as well. Thank goodness because I truly rely on these bags to avoid taking over-the-counter pain meds. In short, this is a a fantastic product that I am very, very happy to endorse.

I received a couple of these years ago after surgery. I had continued to use them many times for different injuries, I unfortunately wore them out. I came to Amazon looking for some kind of ice pack to replace them, I found the exact ice packs. The covering is soft, and thick enough that you don't need a towel or anything to protect your skin. The strings are great to keep it in place, best of all they don't leak!

These ice bags are incredible! The only problem is that they get saturated with water after about three or four times of usage.

I have been sent home from surgery with this style refillable Ice bag several times. While I often use jell filled bags that last for years, they cant keep up with the "Ice every 30 minutes" cycle my foot surgery required. These last for many uses (I got about 10 times per bag), are easy to fill because of the larger funnel shaped opening. The fuzzy flocking does a great job at whisking away the sweat that forms on the outside of the bag (except for the large label (it gets pretty wet), the size is great and so are the ties. I'm really frustrated by round refillable Ice bags and I consider them a terrible design, you cant wrap and tie them. This idea is so superior to those that my only complaint is why haven't they been made with durable materials able to last for years? I really dislike the wastefulness of disposables.

Great product to have on hand. I will purchase again when stock runs low. Size and design keeps you cold and dry.

I received the product yesterday and tested it out ice my thumb (2 weeks post fusion). I was using a really old bag from a hospital or surgery center before I finally decided to order these. The fabric on the old one was starting to (okay it was more than just starting to) wear out and it would start leaking as the ice melted. Finally threw it away the evening before yesterday, knowing I was getting more and not really expecting them to be as good quality as the other bag originally had been. But to my surprise, these seem like they are maybe a little better quality and the fabric seems a little thicker, so I’m hoping it won’t wear out so quickly. Not that the other one wore out quickly, it was still working in a pinch except when the ice melted. I just think these might end up being the better quality ones. I bought a pack of 2, so I have 10 ice bags and these should last me a lifetime. The clamp on the first bag is a little harder to open, but it seems like it is more durable. The size is about the same as most hospital or surgery center ice bags I’ve used. I don’t usually review products the day after I receive them but I have been using my first ice bag all night and much of the day, and I know a good ice bag when I see it.

I bought these to go on a cruise overseas after having knee surgery. Cabins don't have a freezer so i couldn't take a regular ice pack. They worked okay but the could leak pretty easy. If you are in a pinch, they are fine.

I love these so much. The clamp closure is leak proof as long as the bag is folded smoothly over the plastic clamp before clamping it shut. The bag stays cold for SO LONG and your injury/skin gets very cold but never feels too cold or painful on the skin thanks to the bag’s layer of insulation and fuzzy outer layer. Used it for comfort on my incision site after surgery. I brought one home from the hospital with me and after a couple days, it wasn’t looking so fresh so I looked up the info printed on the bag and found these, same as hospital uses. The only complaint I have is the clamp closure end is sharp and needs a cushion cover- I used a cushioned running sock over that end of the bag to avoid being poked by the sharp clamp. (Hospital bag had the same issue- ouch!)
