I know there are people who say it doesn't work but wonder about them. Give it a long term decent chance. Some things can take weeks or months before having any effect on your system. I find that it reduces flushing for me and helps me achieve a really deep restful sleep. Low levels of Vitamin D can also leave you and your bed sweaty and damp so get that checked. I like the peppermint smell and taste of these tiny flat tablets - especially since Black Cohosh naturally smells pretty foul. The butterfly stamp on the pills also makes them easy to identify. The package says to take 2 per day but I just take 1 at bedtime. Each pill is 20mgs. I've tried the other brand, Estroven, which actually comes in a higher milligram amount but doesn't work for me. Maybe less is more? Anyway, I recommend this even for perimenopause and will buy again. Remifemin is the one. The Physicians Desk Reference puts out a book on all prescription medications - warnings and uses, and also put a book out for Herbal Medicine. It's online so search for it. You should read it and tell your physician about this. If an adverse reaction occurs (rare) they wont be in the dark wondering what to do for you. I keep mine in a used pill bottle that is clearly labeled. ***UPDATE I*** I'm perimenopausal. After two months of taking 1 tablet daily I've had regular (i.e. on time) but light menstrual cycles. Before, my cycle would be absent for months, be unpredictable in flow, and arrived whenever. This just seemed to regulate things. So, for what it's worth, if it's something you'd like or you know someone trying to conceive late in life, this may be the ticket. It is not a hormone but does trick the body into functioning very much in the same way Estrogen does. ***UPDATE II*** Shortly after re-starting this (can't always afford it) I began to notice blood in my stool. It could be any number of things from polyps to something more serious. Before embarking on a colonoscopy, I decided to stop taking this and see what happened. No blood since stopping this. Will continue to update.

(see below for udate)I read online on major well-respected allopathic medical websites that the evidence for Black Cohosh working for menopausal night sweats and hot flashes was just not there. That studies didn't show that it worked. I was really crushed, because I'd been suffering from night sweats that so interupted my sleep that it impacted my physical health significantly. I can't take hormones, and soy isoflavones concern me, as they can increase risk of breast cancer. Yet, I decided to try it this product when I heard from a friend that it was from Germany. As others have said, doctors there prescribe herbs as medicine, so this product was at least tested for safety and uniformity. I am not sure if the tests of herbs the Germans do are the same as for medicines, ie, I am not sure if they test for EFFICACY the same as our FDA does. Remifemin posts the research studies backing up their product on their website, but I didn't see a lot of high quality proof that it works. My guess is the Germans don't test herbs for efficacy as much as they do other drugs---because if they had big, solid studies surely the product website would tout them.. My friend has said it worked for her, but that meant little to me in itself.Anyway. It works for me despite my thinking it very probably would not. It does not cure my night sweats, but it makes them better and less frequent. And that matters hugely to my quality of life. So guess what, US Allopathic Medicine--it is too soon and misleading to say to people "there is no evidence that Black Cohosh is effective for hot flashes and night sweats". The reason, if any, there is no evidence is because you haven't done a good study. Do one before you turn people off to something that might work for them. Update: After 2 months on this product, taking twice a day as directed, might night sweats were mostly gone. I've been taking it for about 2 years. I is WORTH the cost...can tell you I can count on both hands he number of nights sweats (or rather, nights that I have them), after the first few months. Even in the summer w/o AC (80 degrees indoors) I didn't even have any sweats.

I have tried many other things and brands for my hot flashes and nothing has worked like this! Not only that, but they began lessening my hot flashes within the first 2 days! After 5 days of taking them my hot flashes, and night sweats are 99% gone. When I do get one it's like a match flame compared to an erupting volcano in comparison. They are MUCH less intense than previously. I was desperate for relief and do I take 2 in the AM, and 1 in the evening. The directions say to take 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM, but I wanted help fast. After 5 days of doing this I am also starting to see an improvement in my mood. I am less irritable (my husband is happier as a result) and I feel less stressed out now. I have also started sleeping better at night. I haven't had to take anything to help me go to sleep and STAY asleep for the past 2 nights! That is amazing for me because I had problems sleeping for about 10 years now. It really is about finding what works for you as an individual. My friend had great results with NOW brand Menopause Support, but I tried it and it did NOTHING for me. I will begin a normal dose of 2 pills a day within the next 3 days and update you then. Either way, these work for me and Remifemin gets big LOVE from this former hot flashing, night sweating, irritable, stressed out, sleepless 54 yr old woman! I won't look elsewhere again...except to find something that works this well to stop me from having to pee every 15 minutes. :P

I was suffering from terrible hot flashes during the daytime and also at night. At least 20 in a 24 hour period. As you can imagine, I was miserable. Friends and coworkers were telling me they could last up to 10 years! I knew I had to do something or I would lose my mind. So I researched online and read the reviews on many products and decided to try Remifemin Menopause Relief! I couldn't be more pleased! Within the first week my hot flashes started to diminish. Within the second week they were gone all together. They really work. I rarely and I mean rarely write reviews because it take a lot to impress me. I'm extremely impressed and needed to share in case someone else out there is looking for a product that really works. You are suppose to take two pills a day, one in the morning and one at night. I had a hard time remembering to take the one pill at night, so I take two in the morning and so far so good. As long as I am not having any hot flashes or side effects I will continuing doing what I am doing. I hope this product works as well for others as it has for me.

I am grateful 4 this OTC product. I'm 54-55 & menopause has been debilitating, (especially hot flashes). Literally every 15 mins entire body sweats. Never able to wear makeup, stay fresh, wear any clothes other than cotton everything, only tank tops, I could go on but.... Here's the deal with this stuff. It WORKS! My Naturopath prescribed along with topical estrogen. I have 95% relief now on most days. That is up there in the 'miracle' range! Now, I do have breakthrough hot flashes, but NOTHING like b4 taking this stuff. I'm religious to take twice daily. As a side note. I heard Black Cohosh was the 'thing's to take. I went that route 100% pure Cohosh powder. Not a dent did it do! I don't know any other woman who has experienced such an unforgiving, relentless, menopausal transition 'on steroids' like me. So that should really let you know! I will continue to order until my hypothalamus is convalescent! (Look it up if you didn't 'get' it! Good Luck!
