Cute and functional
I also keep my litter boxes in my basement. The door to our basement is also in a hallway that gets a lot of foot traffic. So keeping the door open all the time became a hassle. Also to add to my issue is I have a beagle that likes to seek out the cat box. Very gross. I knew a cat door was the solution but I find most to be quite ugly and I have really nice doors, so the thought of putting a hole in one of them caused me concern. I had thought about getting a regular cat door and adding molding around the opening myself but then I found this one and it was exactly what I was looking for! Installation was a breeze. My husband was impressed. We did remove the flap portion though. I have two cats, one that is adventurous and one that is not. The flap has beads around it which catch on the magnet part inside the opening. The flap makes a little bit of noise when it closes and I knew our one neurotic cat would not like it. The cat door looks cute and the materials are good quality. My one wish is that I wanted the slate colored frame and for some reason, the only options were the white, pink or yellow. The slate colored frame can be purchased separately. I bought the white. I am not sure I will spend the extra 15 dollars for the slate colored frame. Over all this is really a great product. The cats love it.

A Five Star Pet Door
You get what you pay for with this item - a nice looking, high quality pet door. I did a lot of research and it seemed like every pet door I found was cheaply made and unattractive. I'm so glad I spent a bit extra on this one. It's very well designed and completely weatherproof, in that it seems to do a great job at keeping the AC in and the hot air out. The installation requires some attention, preferably by someone skilled with a jigsaw. We cut the hole to the size of the template, then we used a file to level out the hole so that the pet door would slide in. The trick is to get the hole the perfect size, and keep the cuts level so that the door can slide in without being forced. With some careful attention, this is not a difficult installation. We installed it so that the bottom of the flap is 5 inches from the bottom of the door, and that seems to be a good height for my average sized cats. Once installed, the door is adorable! My oldest cat was using it on his own the next day. The younger boy was going through it like a pro within 3 days. The little female cat still hasn't completely figured out that she can come through without my help, but she is on the timid side. Some cats may require a bit more training to use the door than others.

This cat door is adorable! It took my fiance a while to install
This cat door is adorable! It took my fiance a while to install, but I believe that was mostly our door's fault (it's a steel door and we should have used a better saw). Apart from that, he's never installed anything like this before and it turned out beautifully! I will note: This IS a plastic door, the only metal is the door plate to keep it shut, but once it's installed it really doesn't make much of a difference in my opinion. My main problem with this is that my cats clawed through the rubber door THE SAME DAY we got it in... so I wouldn't say that's very durable. I haven't looked into whether I can get a replacement for that yet, but I'm hoping so. It took my boys a while to get used to, but they seem to really like it now, or they at least have no problems going in and out! We installed it into our garage door so we could keep the litter box out there, and it has been like a summer breeze in our house ever since! Haha. Despite the couple of flaws, I would still recommend this item. Just watch your cats when they're getting used to it to make sure they don't claw it to pieces!

So Adorable! Get compliments on it all the time!
Added this to our inside laundry room door, so we don't really use the locking mechanism. If we had to, I think it might be a little awkward? It's completely separate from the door, you add it on to block the door - looks pretty solid! Without it, though, the door was easy to install and works great! I did remove several magnets from the side edges of the door frame, after reading some articles suggesting cats don't care for them? But my old guy has no issues, probably would have been fine. I like that the magnets (I left the bottom ones in) keep the flap closed - trying to minimize the noise of the appliances in the house. Everyone wonders if it's an indoor fairy door LoL, so I may make a kitty commode label for it. But on the other hand, it's pretty enough to pass as a fairy door :) may just enjoy it as is!

Super cute, but not durable
It looks great, and it has a removable hard panel that lets you shut the animal in or out when necessary. That part's great. Unfortunately, the silicone flap isn't sturdy. My cat, a twenty-one pounder with all his claws, has ripped the flap to shreds. I don't think he was even trying to destroy the thing--it just sort of happened. I've looked all over for replacement flaps. Can't find any. So I have to buy a new one and start over. If they had made this with an inner flap that couldn't tear, like a piece of solid plastic, it would be perfect.

Nice...but don't like the magnets
The cat door looks very nice on our garage door. But after trying to train my cats to use the door (which only took a few days) I found out that they would not go out with the flap down. I googled how to train your cat to use a cat door and everything I read said don't get a cat door with magnets, because the cats don't like it. It makes it more difficult for them to push, and they're scared of it. So, after over a month, our cat flap is still taped up on the door. However, it is better than having a cat box in the house! But I would not recommend a door with magnets. If but for that, it would've been perfect. May 15 2012...Update... Ok, so I have had this product for quite a while now and it is working like a charm. I ended up just cutting out the Little magnets, and you really can't tell when you look at it. I cut along the side and pulled out the magnet strip and since then my cats have used it without any problem. I would still recommend buying one without magnets in the first place, but if not, there are solutions to the problem
