I use these mainly with my waxing machine. I haven't had any problems with splinters or breakage. I'm so glad I can get all of my waxing machine supplies on Amazon. My husband has also used these to make a temporary splint when he gets a deep cut from his job on his fingers, so I know they have different uses. The quantity that you receive for the price you pay is fair, especially when you can use it for more than one thing, as we do.

Box was completely broken and the applicators where just tossed into the bag. Very not thrilled with this product packaging
