Excellent toy

Bought this set for a three year old's birthday and she loved it. Eight months on she still asks to 'play stamps' from time to time, so in her case at least, the appeal has lasted!

I got these for one of my younger nephews who like many his age, is infatuated with Paw Patrol. This Melissa and Doug set features nice wooden stamps that feature the pups as well as the vehicles the pups use in the TV show. The Amazon listing states it's recommended for 4 to 7 year olds but I'd say it's probably better aimed at the 4 to 5 year old market as from personal experience my kids had tended to have moved on from Paw Patrol around 5 to 6 years old. The set is on the more expensive side of "activity" packs but you are getting that "Melissa & Doug quality" for the wooden stamps and the wooden box (handy to contain everything in). So it not only feels nicer (and expensive) when used, but is probably better for the environment as not made entirely of plastic. So it is perfect for younger kids and the good news is the ink is washable and should come off skin with soap and water. Though for fabrics, the packaging does say the ink washes out of "most fabrics", so probably best to wear old clothes or aprons, as undoubtedly, your mucky pups will get.. inky.

I’ve been so impressed with this kit, my daughter is obsessed with paw patrol and was absolutely thrilled to get this. It’s really good quality as well as you’d expect from a Melissa and Doug product! It comes in a wooden box with 16 wooden stamps (8 large ones with their vehicles on and 8 medium sized ones with the pups on). It’s worth noting with the stamps this isn’t the “movie” version so the new pup Liberty isn’t on any of the stamps and there’s not one for Ryder but the classic pups are there (Everest, Marshall, Tracker, Zumer, Rocky, Rubble and Skye). It also comes with 2 ink pads (red and blue), 6 felt tip pens (I hid them before they ended up on the wall) and an activity pad which has 12 pages. As I said, my daughter loves it and I can’t see her getting bored of it any time soon which is great. With that in mind I’d happily recommend it, I think it’s a great boredom buster and would make an ideal Birthday or Christmas present.

What child doesn't like playing with paint? Personalize and build your own toy ... It's challenging but rewarding ... The material made of wood instead of plastic is nice ... A good gift idea from an educational point of view because it makes the mind work.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to review this craft kit, which combines the trusted Melissa and Doug wooden toy brand, with everyone’s favourite canine emergency service, Paw Patrol. My four year old grandson is a Paw Patrol enthusiast, and he also enjoys painting and drawing. So, he was the perfect assistant for my review of this product. The set includes a fire engine, police car and helicopter, with paint pots and some decorative stickers. There are 3 brushes - good for sharing the activity - and 8 paint pots, which sounds and looks like plenty. Unfortunately, once you have got started, it becomes apparent that the volume of paint is a bit mean. The shortage of paint combines with the other challenge of this set: quite advanced motor skills are required to do a proper job of painting each vehicles. My grandson found it quite tough and got frustrated with himself- not quite the reaction I was hoping for! I would say that the painting task is too detailed for a four year old. With close adult supervision it is possible, but we kept coming up against the shortage of paint. Overall, quite a fun creative task, better suited to older children, if they are still interested in Paw Patrol by the time they are big enough to paint this set well.
