Another Great Read!,,
Well M. DeMille has not disappointed again. As i have said in the past I Love The Way he mixes his story telling with a touch of humor. Another Great book in the series. Do not know how many more books are in this series but hope more. Fixing to find out!

Mr. DeMille never disappoints
It is always a real treat to read a Nelson DeMille novel. The characters in his books, the way he uses words, that terrific sense of humor, an unashamedly old school man’s man… I appreciate it all… I even look forward to his monthly newsletter. As for the book… Once again he’s treated us to a story that has it all. The story is quite believable (unfortunately)…the characters are wonderfully developed…the subplots are a welcome surprise…and the way he integrates references to past adventures from his other books are added bonuses. In my book he really is a national treasure.

A quiet end—- NOT!!!
Radiant Angel is not the best JC novel. Clearly, it was the shortest. BUT, NDM admittedly was having difficulty writing the married couple in a compelling thriller, short of having one of them killed.Spoiler Alerts!!! Don’t read any further if you haven’t read John Corey (JC) books 4-6 AND you don’t want to know the synopsis of Radiant Angel!!!. It is not clear how much time elapsed since the end of The Panther (book 6) and the present (book 7). Recall, at the end of book 6 JC and Kate Mayfield (KM) received 3 year extensions, thereby allowing them to remain in the NYC FBI location. However, in Radiant Angel, JC implied that he was pushed out of the ATTF, and perhaps he was hampering KM’s career trajectory at the FBI. To help her career, JC left the ATTF. Soon afterward, KM was promoted and worked closely with her former supervisor, Tom Walsh (TW), as basically equals. Meanwhile, JC remained a contract agent for the FBI, but as a diplomatic surveillance group (DSG) team leader. This amounts to a demotion as JC described as being put out to pasture. He and KM grew apart emotionally and physically, as KM and TW travel to Wash DC frequently. JC has been training up a female a DSG agent, Tess Faraday, who “aspires” to become an FBI field agent. They’d been working closely together for a good while, following a Russian diplomat to the United Nations (UN), Vasily Petrov (VP). VP is known to be a colonel in the Russian foreign intelligence service (SVR). The DSG team, led by JC followed VP to a Hamptons estate owned by a Russian oligarch. VP with the blessing of the Russian President was in NYC to cause mass destruction with a suitcase nuclear bomb, while framing a Saudi royal prince for this act of terrorism. VP and his crew nearly give JC the slip. As per usual, JC breaks professional protocol to keep hot on the trail of his adversary. As per usual, a younger, beautiful female agent stays with him through the conclusion of the conflict. Only this time it wasn’t KM. and the DSG agent TF was really a State Department Intelligence (SDI) agent. The same SDI that conspired with the CIA to have JC & KM liquidated in Yemen (book 6). Recall, that JC’s SDI acquaintance, Buckminster “Buck” Harris, was a Cold Warrior a lifetime ago. Buck gave JC objective facts to analyze and asked JC to serve and protect the country once more. Except, instead of radical Islamic terrorists, JC would be battling the Russians. JC does this with the same...Nay, greater-than-ever gusto in order to prove to the FBI, CIA, SDI & KM they were wrong to put him out to pasture. Needless to say, JC adds to his legendary status as a maverick, crime-solving, bad guy killing patriot.JC had a familiar-but-professional work relationship with TF. However, to get JC on board, Buck threw out some hints of impropriety between KM & TW. Over the course of the 24 hour time period this story takes place, JC realized (although he has had suspicions since book 4) that KM has had a thing for TW. JC developed amorous feelings for TF (who had been smitten with JC for quite some time). Through TF, Buck tells JC he looks forward to working closely again. JC talked about doing contract work abroad. Oh, and he remained in touch with TF as he and KM mutually agreed to separate.People disagree with the JC/KM estrangement. However, re-read the books. Better yet, listen to Scott Brick’s narration of the books. You will realize that the marriage was on unsteady footing for quite some time. Perhaps, NDM could have elaborated more on that. However, when NDM is inspired once more to continue the JC series, he has multiple possibilities for JC... new agency (SDI? Like Paul Brenner) new love interest (Tess Faraday) old love interest (Kate Mayfield). Please, Mr.Demille, don’t put him back near Plum Island or Det Beth Penrose. That only pushes Det John Corey NYPD, ret & former FBI contract agent closer to a quiet end.

Couldn't quit reading
Suspense to max. Not totally unbelievable, unfortunately. A totally enjoyable read. Villains undeniably bad. Good guys only marginally bad, but for a good cause.

Return to New York
I read the first John Corey book Plum Island. I enjoyed it a lot and picked up some of the others. This book take him back to New York which is where I believe he belongs. This book I think dwelled too much on the protagonists and other minor characters. I also enjoyed the Book Case novella.

Another John Corey Corker!
Which is something only an old guy would say. Make that a gentleman of a certain age. So Corey still hasn't figured out a) he'll never make a Fed and b) no good deed - like saving the world - goes unpunished.Sometimes I think I read John Corey books for the dik jokes.

Exciting!
Elton DeMille at his best! I love the humor in John Corey novels andThe excitement. Not much on character development except when he admits he screwed up/rarely, or with women. I sometimes wish DeMille would explore his interactions with women more. This was a great book and really worth your time!

A good read..
Having read all of De Mille's books over the years, you could say 'Yes I am another big fan of De Mille". For me this book is another fabulous effort in the John Corey series, and I hope the series continues. It is quick witted, delivers some fantastic one-liners and has you laughing from the inset in reference to John Corey's dialogue. The story line however is more on the serious side of events, being about an attack (terrorism) on America, which is something no one would like to see happen again, whether it be in America or somewhere else in the world. The trouble is that these things do happen in real life which is why De Mille's books are hard hitting & get you holding a breath or two..!John Corey as a character has women readers probably secretly falling for him and men wanting to be like him..( to be charming & quick witted...). he's a lovable rogue, not following orders, taking risks but gets the job done. However I do think that if this book is going to be your first 'John Corey' read, then DON'T read... go back to the beginning of the series & give yourself time to get in-sync with De Mille's way of writing & get to know the characters, laugh with them & at them.At the end of the day each person is different & has different taste's which is why the world is not boring..so I do recommend that you ignore the reviews good & bad - read the novel ( &/or the series) & decide for yourself. Go on you know you want to.....
