Love at first mic! Sleek, well-constructed, ultralight, easy to position and super-portable.
Was trying to get my speech recognition software to actually recognize what I was saying....argh! I researched and chose this great little mic, the Buddy Flamingo 7G. It arrived super fast and was even more than I expected.By the photos I was expecting something a bulkier, but was so pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found this sleek little mike with this elegant, well constructed, low-profile METAL (not plastic) goose-neck. It easily positions in a multitude of configurations and enables you to place the mic right near your mouth no matter your height with ease and without blocking your access to the keyboard. Oh, and it stays right where you place it.It was so easy to plug in and viola! In a couple of minutes all software was automatically installed and I was up and ready to go. My computer automatically selected it as the default, although there are simple instructions if it does not. When I began to use it, I fell in love even more, as my speech recognition went from about 10% accuracy to about 85% accuracy. I am sure with practice, that accuracy will increase even more. It made the difference of me throwing up my hands in frustration to being able to dictate to my computer with success. I needed the speech recognition software to function properly for my work, and now it is game on.Others mentioned pressure on the USB port, but I do not experience this on my Samsung computer. The mic seats into the USB very firmly and is so lightweight that it really does not "pull" on the port.I am sure the other mics I researched also improve the speech recognition software's accuracy, but for my preferences, this one won hands down over other options for the following reasons: 1. The freedom this offers over the constriction of wearing a headset on my head and in my ear all day, 2. The freedom of not being attached by a cord to my computer, thus not having to remove the headset when I needed to go do something, 3. The sleek, low profile of this microphone vs. a stand alone desk mic that is harder to position next to your mouth, 4. The compact, lightweight design with no large heavy or bulky base or awkward protruding head-gear enables me to quickly drop it into my computer bag and go, 5. Just plug and use or unplug and pack up....no stringy cords to wrap up.....Bottom line....I love this little powerful mic! It was everything I hoped it would be. I highly recommend this mic.

Good product, a little pricey
I bought this several weeks ago to use with Dragon Dictate on my MBP. If you're like I was, you are looking for a mic to use with speech recognition software; you don't want to spend $300; and a headset is your option of last resort. All in all, if you're looking for a mic that will let you kind of back away from the computer (i.e. you are using a TV as a monitor), a handheld mic (much more expensive) may be better for you. But, if you're sitting at a desk writing a paper, with a bunch of notes and books scattered everywhere in front of you, both the flexibility of this mic and the vast upgrade in recognition accuracy from my MBP's internal mic, have proven to be invaluable to productivity. The mic's use-value in combination with Dragon Dictate seems to be where this product has derived it's slightly inflated price.Pros:This mic is pretty much what I expected it to be--a flexible upgrade from my internal mic that allows me to organize myself more comfortably while using Dragon Dictate. The mic itself works very well when you are within 10 inches in a quiet room, or 6 inches if there is something chatty in the background (thanks to noise canceling tech).Cons:The packaging for this product needs a complete do-over--very plain, almost no product specs, etc. That said, I think this mic's $90+ price tag is a bit arbitrary...The feel of the mic's flexible stem is similar to a cheap, clip-on, desk lamp.Integration Issues--either Dragon Dictate or mac OSX or some combination causes a mild annoyance when trying to use this mic...Normally, when you set up a new mic you go through a fairly quick (several minutes) voice training process so that the mic's input volume and other settings can be adjusted. [After initial training, you're off to the races.] Well, this mic does work with Dragon Dictate...very accurately once going...But I found after shutting down my computer that when I tried to start Dragon Dictate, my new mic was listed as an option. But, when I clicked it, the profile with that mic wouldn't work. Eventually, I figured out if I start up the program as usual then click "Tools">"Microphone Setup," and set the mic's volume manually, then "Close" before starting the training over, that I could use the mic with Dragon Dictate...It takes me about 15 seconds longer to do this and since I close before the training, the mic's settings aside from volume are straight out of the box...this is only a mild annoyance though because the mic is still very accurate. Also, this mic's software, available on the company's website, is not compatible with my MBP. I assume if, and hopefully when, the company releases a mac-compatible update, that the mild annoyance described above will be easily fixed.

Portable High Quality Speech Recognition
I purchased this microphone to take advantage of Dragon dictation on my MacBook Air. I work in a high pressure, unpredictably noisy environment, constantly on my feet and needed a high-accuracy solution to get speech recognition for dictations throughout my entire work day. I have not been disappointed. Using a 2010 model year Mac Book Air and latest Mac version of Dragon (2.5x), OS 10.7, the USB connected Buddy Microphone was immediately recognized by name and as a valid sound input device by both the Mac (in System Preferences) and by Dragon Dictate. I did NOT need to "trick" Dragon to recognize the microphone using third party software. In fact, there is no installation on a Mac beyond plugging the microphone in. After the standard Dragon microphone training sequence, I was on my way with the best dictation experience I have had to date. I have tried other microphones and a bluetooth rig with varying success. What this microphone offers is the perfect balance of a secure, minimally protruding, hard wired microphone with active noise suppression mounted on an adjustable stalk. Accurate, portable dictation. Battery life of my laptop does not seem affected enough to notice. The construction and materials are high quality. I was a bit skeptical of the price, but for me it has been worth it. I have only had this for a week so longevity is yet to be seen. So far VERY happy.

Went back to Plantronics earpiece
The inaccuracies when used with Dragon Medical are unacceptable. It is convenient not to be tethered to the computer but the increased accuracy of the earpiece offsets the inconvenience of the cord.

Works for me with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13
So far so good. I'm using this with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13 and I haven't had any problems with it. I've been using it for about three weeks and it works fine. The only thing I will point out is that it has no pause button on the actual mechanism so if you want to switch it off for a moment while you speak to somebody you need to do that on the PC itself.

Great microphone, but terrible customer service by InSync Technologies Inc. I had questions before purchasing the mic and left 2 or 3 voicemail messages that went unanswered. After receiving the product and having difficulty with installation, I e-mailed the company and still no response! Frustrated, I eventually left an angry voicemail message and I finally got a response. I shouldn't have had to wait or leave an angry message to get a response. Awful!

Sehr empfehlenswert!
Einfach einstecken.

LOVE the concept- execution was a total flop.
I was so upset that this mic just- didn't work. I bought it to record voice audios and to use during live videos with my Chromebook Asus Flip. I work on the go a lot and the concept of a mic that's super lightweight, portable, filters background noise, and doesn't require a separate stand or even a desk was so incredibly attractive to me. I was so excited when it arrived...and flop. The USB would not sit tightly in the port. The light would turn on for a hot second and then go off- even with me holding it in place. My Chromebook didn't recognise it (not that it seemed to be getting a chance to.) I tried several different ways to get it to sit correctly and get it to connect- figuring if I could figure out the angle it needed to be supported at I could create a support with Sugru...but it just would not work no matter what I did.I have yet to decide if I'll be ordering another one to see if I just got a lemon or if I'm moving on to something else.

Sehr gut
