Took a gamble, surprised as heck!
I read the info on these carefully, and read the reviews as well, took the company's advice about using them for as long as possible during first 24hrs and how to compare hearing with and without the use of calmer pro. And I was genuinely blown away. I am autistic, I also have ADHD and sensory processing issues. I can hear the phone ring in a different class to the one I am in over two classes of special needs students who are very noisy - the only place I could go that would be louder is most likely a gig/concert or theatre! So with that said I found on return to work after Christmas break that I was reaching autistic burnout and getting very triggered by all the noises in the school. I decided to do something about it because I was desperate not to end up in total burnout unable to go to work, so I bought a pair of calmer pro and a pair of loop experience pro in the same order. They both work very differently - loop is a deadener earplug, whilst calmer is not what Id call an earplug but it's form is supposed to reduce distortion of sound as it reaches the ear making harsh sounds feel softer. Calmer pro surprised me the most - it genuinely does make harsh and usually triggering sounds, softer and much more manageable. I don't know how it does it, as there's not even any batteries but I really don't care because it works! It will even soften the harsher sounds of tantrum meltdowns, and the harsher sounds of a stern adult voice! As for listening to music it brings a greater clarity to all the sounds and you notice details that you hadn't before (I tested using a track I know well enough that I can remember all its details and play it in my head without the use of technology)! I also tested it watching a documentary on the Hillsborough disaster - I'm really not keen on the sport in the first place tbh but as a child I went to a couple of live games and that was okay, but on TV the crowds and commentators give a horrible texture to that experience - and what happened was that I was able to watch it because somehow it sounded better with calmer pro. Comfortable to wear all day as long as they're inserted correctly but the instructions for this are straightforward, they don't fall out and very rarely slip (the rare occasion this happens is likely to be after eating, if they're not inserted quite deeply enough). I'm so glad I took a gamble - I think Calmer pro will help stave off autistic burnout for a little longer, perhaps long enough for me to find some helpful strategies to use in conjunction with these. If you're on the fence, my advice is try them and hopefully you won't regret it, I didn't! (I went straight in with the Calmer pros, I haven't tried any of their other products yet!)

Comfy
These were comfy and easy to keep clean. Very easy to lose though

Wow
I’ve had some hearing problems since childhood, including audio discrimination disorder where ambient noise clouds my perception of people’s voices, and as a young adult I spent too much time blasting music in my car, so now in my 30s my hearing has been telling me I need some form of assistance to protect it. Having young kids already meant that at times I’ve had to resort to ear plugs or AirPods (whichever was close by), to deal with various forms of noise and screaming to avoid physical pain and the corresponding stress or anger if my hearing hurts. So having seen ads for these Flares for months, I decided to give it a try. Right off the bat I’d say, like many reviews try to communicate, this doesn’t cover your full spectrum hearing, otherwise they’d be closed plugs. But I have a very tangible sense of having my hearing more protected with these, even with screaming kids, since the high pitch levels seem to be cut down a bit to the point of removing pain when my kids scream, meaning I’m also able to keep a lot calmer and less stressed. After wearing them for a while there’s a definite sense of my hearing feeling ‘naked’ when I taken them out, but your ears also get fatigued from them so I try choose my moments when to wear them. As far as my audio discrimination, I’ve yet to fully give this a run for long enough but I do think they help somewhat. Even so, that would be a bonus as my intended goal was to avoid pain and noise harm, which I think this is achieving very well. The other thing I like, is that these are likely an investment I can keep for years to come. No batteries, no firmware updates, no compatible cables required, just a fully analog tool to help my hearing, which is a rare thing these days. Only downside for me is the little visible antennae sticking out of my ears but it’s a small price for the benefits and I guess anyone asking will be made aware of either your hearing issues or the benefits of using these in audibly stressful environments.

Not sure as dissent get to try properly
Id love to review these as worn but they were way to big inside my ear and caused a lot of pain. I ended up taking them out and losing one of them (was out and about at the time so was unfortunate timing). I wish I'd of gotten the smaller ones but have never needed to get smaller sized anything for my ear so assumed these would be the same. Umed and ahhed for ages about if the price was worth it too, got the more expensive ones as I was willing to invest in something that helps sensory issues. Be careful with sizing as it's a costly gamble if they don't fit.

Mixed feelings
Really great in terms of how well they work to cut out that 'extra' noise. Only problem I have had is that they keep dropping out. I have had two pairs now, and am beginning to look for something else. If only they could make a version with something more than just a bit of friction from the ear to keep these in.

Revolutionary
These really do take the edge off the intolerable everyday noises, in the home and out and about. They don't block noise, that is not what they are for. They just make the noise less shrill. They stay in your ears, unlike iPod earphones which would never stay in my ears! I bought the Standard fit.

Top.

I bought these because I have very sensitive hearing, and these really help take the edge off loud sounds and noises. I feel that I am a lot calmer in my day now as a result. I previously bought the original Flare Calmer earplugs, and they worked great, but I decided to splurge and get the Pro ones as well. They both definitely work, but I think the Pro ones do the best job. Really worth the purchase in my opinion.
