My god, this is garbage.
I wanted to love it. Really I did. I read the reviews about the relentless leaking and I blamed the issues on "user error." Oh how I regret not heeding the wise warnings of those dissatisfied users. How right they were. Mildly annoying at first, the leaking is now a full waterfall, all right. All over my kitchen counter. The issue has gotten progressively worse over time, like the seal is degrading. And this waterfall I speak of isn't flowing into the elegant glass carafe, mind you. Rather, the deluge flows onto my counter. My search for a better countertop water filter continues. I'm so bummed!

The filter works very well. I love the design as the filter is separate from the water container. Fast filtering and the glass carafes are classy much nicer than a plastic pitcher.EDIT: Container leaks when the valve is closed. The fast filtering I reported was due to not having the filter seated correctly. I found out my mistake with the 2nd filter and filtering is much slower. I paid $99 before the drop in price and believe that was too expensive for something that filters slowly and also leaks. I still love the design, but wanted to update my review for other shoppers.

Gorgeous design, cheaply executed.
Gorgeous design, cheaply executed. I was so excited to get this. I'd been looking for a filter pitcher that combined glass, aesthetics, quality, and functionality. This ain't it, and it's very sad because it could be perfect. The design is great, simple, easy to set up and clean, and looks great. However, other than the glass carafes, all other materials fall short in quality. The beautiful glass carafes come with plastic caps, which pretty much ruin the sight and, to many, render the idea of glass useless because people looking for glass do not want plastic caps. The caps already came scratched, which was kind of disappointing, but I was going to look for a replacement anyway. It turns out that the small wooden caps for weck jars fit almost perfectly, so I will be using those since my purpose for the caps is to protect the water from dust (not all of them fit tightly, but they all fit). The waterfall is made of plastic, which is halfway between super cheap and super awesome. It's sturdy-ish, though not what I was expecting. I was hoping for the strong, porous, matte plastic (not sure what it's called), which is what I would expect from a high-end system and which I thought this would be. It's not bad, I just expected much better. It does leak outside of its designated dripping hole, as so many have pointed out, but so far, all of the water falls into the carafe. I've ran it six times so far. The flavor is not great at all. I usually use Brita and it takes off the bad taste, but these filters don't remove all of the taste. While it doesn't taste as bad, I can still tell it's tap water. I hope the company starts selling better filters because these are too expensive to be so useless. I will see if i can use them with the contents of Brita filters. The filtering lock is working so far. It drips a tiny bit after I close it, but it's not a big deal.I gave it 4 stars because I like the design, it looks great in the countertop, much better than the usual filter pitchers, and I love the fact that I can fill a glass or a water bottle directly (although it drips around water bottles). The glass carafes are beautiful and seem sturdy, and I like that the system comes with 2, and that they are of a moderate capacity so they don't get heavy. The design of this system is great. I wish they had devoted the best resources to honor the design, and not make something almost mediocre to sell it at a lower price. I would have happily paid a higher price for the best quality. Finally, the price is fair because of how different it is from other systems, it's not an eyesore, like most, it comes with 2 carafes and a filter, and it's a novelty in that the filter is separated from the receiving container. But for the current materials, I wouldn't pay more.It came a bit dirty, I suppose this was previously returned by someone else. And it was shipped in its own box, not on an Amazon box, so someone walking by could have grabbed it if they'd pay attention to what it was.

Too Cheap for the Price
I chose this filter because I wanted to get rid of plastic filters and water stored in plastic for long periods of time, like a plastic pitcher, in order to avoid chemicals leaking through plastic into water. It is not plastic free, water is in contact with plastic for a few seconds. I already knew this but is worth mentioning, because the filter is made in China which I’m not confident this is 100% BPA Free or Estrogen Free.Only the carafes are glass and those are pretty and elegant BUT you can’t close seal the carafes, the lid only sits on top of the carafes so if you’re not extra careful the lid will fall in seconds!!!!//I came to update my review. I like my waterfall, I don’t have any more water store in plastic and even though the lid in the carafes do not close seal I haven’t had any accidents. It’s a great option for small apartments and avoiding contact with plastic and is a very good flavor :)

Going strong after 3 years
I bought two of these around three years ago. I've been using them daily ever since. I use them for drinking water and its the water I use for plants and for my espresso machine. Never had an issue and they help keep scale down on my espresso machine. As far as leaking issues, I had that problem exactly once, when I tried to replace the filter and ended up twisting the the base (you should just lift the filter to replace, it doesn't require any twisting. The fix was to add just a bit of plummer's tape, it's really simple fix and the seal has held up for nearly three years now.
