I see that user "Mr Ken" also found it more sensible to install the wall plate in the tall position rather than horizontal (contrary to mfg suggestion) for greater strength. This is for max support. It's likely that a 3rd party improperly generated the documentation. For fast install, use either soap or wax on the lag stud threads, and drive into a predrilled 7/32" hole using a drill with lag stud chucked in tightly. Complete the fine tuning of the lag stud with a good quality vise grip. This way, you won't be returning the product. My client asked if they can post a review on our site

Installation we simple, product is great. For folks that have rentals 1-3 times a year this is great. you can just remove the rails and put them back after moveins. That is why we got them. They have these dialed in quite well for sturdyness + flexibility too remove when you need to without damaging the wall or integrity of it. The fact the the have the top piece that rotates, makes is much easier to install faster as it can high some mistakes in measuring and leveling.Solid construction, great customer service. Beautiful work.

I've gone back and forth on these.The quality is nice. There is no denying that. Heavy duty and substantial. But man are they a pain to install. It's like the manufacturer was thinking, "how can we take these nice brackets and design them in such a way that they frustrate anyone who uses them?" They accomplished this by providing worthless instructions, screws that likely won't work for most people, and only one of the two hex wrenches you'll need to install them. Once you get the proper supplies and teach yourself how to install them, good luck getting them secure, level, and aligned.I was finally able to get close to what I wanted through much trial and error and am relatively satisfied. They look nice. But not sure if I'd buy them again in the future.

Did a fair amount of searching online for a clean modern look that would not require me to refinance my house.Took a deep breath and decided to go for it with these. I've never installed a banister before so I was a bit worried about putting these up. These came with good instructions and the hardware was solid. Highly recommended.

I’ve never written a review in my life until today. This is the absolute worst product I’ve ever dealt with. These brackets are pathetic. Little tiny set screws with hex ends that literally strip out in the first turn and are supposed to give the strength to stabilize a hand rail, for safety. A 5 inch lag bold, also with the only method of screwing into a stud with another tiny hex end thy strips out before you are half way into the stud.I’m the fool for buying this product, but If anyone reads this review and buys this product, you are twice the fool. Don’t do it, don’t even think about it. Better off just falling down the stairs than using this product.
