Wera5073391001 Hexagon 950 PKL/9 SB L-Key Set, BlackLaser, Ballpoint Hex Key, 9 Piece

I am a field service engineer on electromagnetical equipment that is held together primarily by Hex fittings. I've been doing some variant of this type of work for 20 years now, and I'm an avid cyclist on top of that so I am working on bicycles a lot on my off time which are also fastened mostly with hex screws... if I am anywhere close to getting my 10,000 hours of any activity, it's turning hex screws. At first (like when I was working on my bike as a kid) I thought, "its just a metal rod, there's no reason not to get the cheapest ones" I also thought stripped screws and hex keys were par to the course.When I was and electronics technician in the Navy and using the industry standard black anodized Bondhus set from the shop tool kit, I found out there was a huge difference between the big-box store tools and decent professional grade tools. As simple as a metal rod may seem, having precise machining that allow the wrench to fit easily onto the fitting without play or getting stuck, and having the right mix of alloys that are rigid enough to not flex under tension but not so rigid that they are brittle, makes a really big difference.When I got my first civilian job where I could buy tools with a company card, I thought that since there was such a big difference between $5 set I use on my bike and the $10 set I used in the Navy, the $80 hex key set wold blow my mind.... it didn't, fairly indistinguishable from the the Bondhus or Wiha sets I was already accustomed to. I think most any Ball-end will break if you stick a breaker bar or a set of channel-locks on the short end and wrench on it with all ya got... I haven't tried that with the expensive set, but who's going to risk snapping such expensive tools?I am not the type of person who uses 5/32 in a 4mm because it's close enough, so I don't strip out a lot of screws on the equipment I work on exclusively so it's hard to say if these strip out fittings any less, but I have co-workers who do and there have been times when they couldn't get a partially stripped screw to turn using their wrenches but i could turn it with mine. I wouldn't say that my mind is blown, but there is a noticeable difference in functionality and only a marginal difference in price. I can't say that the silver vs black versions are different for anything other than aesthetics, but its nice to have the imperial and metric sets in different colors so I don't accidentally mix them up when I'm putting my tools away.

Bite, bite, bite this manufacturer heads never slip. Got this set to complement my shorty set. You want these particularly when working on softer bike or aircraft aluminum materials.

Great product, tool feels very light compared to other wera Allens I’ve bought before. Only fear is you can’t add too much torque to tool without bending the wrench

Well made tools

I use this product for bikes. I used to use Allen keys from harbor freight. they worked but the Allen keys would always round. I noticed that the Wera Allen keys fit Snuge and are very high quality.
