The waxed Canvas pipe roll is probably my favorite part of the kit. I would have paid that price for it alone! Solid, well built and I really love the aesthetic of it. Oh, and quite functional as well! As for the pipe itself, I have smoked several bowls through it by now. Nothing fancy design wise, just a classic shape. But, that's the way I like it! It smokes well and, although I don't prefer to use them, the filters do fit securely in there intend place and the screens also fit nicely. The pipe tool is nothing special. Just a cheap stamped metal multi tool. It works but that's about it. The pipe cleaners appear to be real cotton ones so kudos for that! TLDR: The pipe roll/bag is worth the entire price! The pipe is good and smokes well. All of the extras are functional.

So my buddy Chris has recently gotten into pipe smoking. Many years back Chris picked up cigar smoking in part to support me so that we would have something to do in the rare moments we get to spend together. Recently he has picked up pipe smoking and so, to return the favor, I decided to give pipe smoking a fair shot. So, I went on Amazon and found a Sivaopa Churchwarden and then to an online tobacco shop for a few of the purest aged pipe tobaccos I could find. After both the original and the replacement pipes couldn't even be assembled before breaking, I picked up a $25 pipe at a local tobacco shop. Knowing nothing about pipes, or pipe smoking, it looked like a good deal. It had a metal insert in the bowl and had any elongated Churchwarden type stem (that I really like). I had a horrible experience. I could never keep the stupid thing lit, I'm convinced the draw was poor at the union of the stem and the bowl, and the entire experience was just fighting with the thing to even stay lit. I spent many days trying to figure out how to properly pack a bowl, how to properly light the thing, and how to draw it correctly...but I was very concerned that I would never like smoking a pipe. In sort of a last ditch effort before committing to buying a $200 craft pipe, I chose to get this set. This was partly due to the how the pipe looks, but mostly for the wax canvas pipe bag. Let me just tell you, this set turned the whole situation around. The pipe is polished and feels like a real quality item. It is not made out of briar, which I was concerned about (because all the best pipes are made out of briar) but it is well made and sturdy. I can't speak for it's durability but it fits in the hand perfectly, it has a really good clinch to it (how it feels when you're holding it only with your mouth), and is nice and deep for a good long smoke. When packed and lit, the draw is smooth and for the first time ever, I was able to smoke a pipe for an hour and 45 minutes only needing to light it four or five times. I actually got to sit back and enjoy smoking, rather than just being frustrated that I was having to fight it. The wax canvas pipe bag is a stand out item in this kit. It is absolutely fantastic and I absolutely love every little piece of it. If I could give this thing six stars I absolutely would. By itself, this pipe bag is worth the price that I paid for the whole kit. If you are looking into trying out a pipe, or a seasoned veteran looking for a good pipe bag, this set will absolutely not steer you wrong. I'm actually about to buy a second one and send it to my buddy Chris.

I was a smoker of cigarettes for 25 years, then I quit with the help of vaping. I was nicotine free for the last 10 years but I really missed the ritual of smoking. Recently, I started smoking Black and Mild Pipe Tobacco cigars. I really began to enjoy this even without inhaling, which I don't inhale because of the damage to the lungs and heart. I decided to since I liked the pipe tobacco in Black and Milds I should step up to pipe smoking. It just seemed a little more sophisticated and ritualistic. So I watched a bunch of youtube videos to learn all about pipe smoking and decided to order this Whitlucks starter kit here on Amazon. Even though the reviews were very good here I was still skeptical. So while I was waiting for the Whitlucks to ship I went to a local pipe and cigar shop and talked to a local old timer and I ended up buying a couple of good quality italian made pipes. I spent about $145 on two pipes. Well, my experience smoking from those two quality pipes varied. The store owner gave me some tips for packing the bowl and lighting and I really struggled with getting an enjoyable smoke from those pipes. Then the day came that my Whitlucks starter kit arrived. I was very excited but pessimistic because of the disappointing smokes I had been having, but was still hopeful. First off, the packaging and presentation was first class. I felt like I had just received a high-end gift of rare objects straight from Indiana Jones' personal collection. The pipe was beautiful and fit perfectly on my hand. The canvas carrying pouch is really cool, but true to other reviews here the canvas is more green that beige or tan. But that didn't bother me any. I love it. Finally, the best part. The pipe. It's the perfect size and shape. I noticed the bowl is slightly narrower than the $90 pipe I bought earlier. I also noticed it already had a nice draw to eat even without tobacco in the bowl. The walls of the bowl are nice and thick. That seems to help reduce how hot the bowl gets to the touch. So, I threw out all of the YouTube advice and just pinched nice wad of tobacco and shoved it in the bowl and tamped it down a little until I achieved the draw I was looking for. I did the first light and tamped down again then did the second light. From the very first bowl each smoke is perfect in this pipe. It burns consistently and evenly and doesn't get too hot. It stays lit the whole smoke. So far, each and every smoke has been a truly spiritual experience with this pipe and kit. I am very happy and very impressed. I recommend getting this kit for any pipe lover in your life as a gift. They will love it. Well done Whitluck!

Let us journey through this review with each piece of the kit! -Canvas Roll-up Bag: Fantastic! Great for holding even a churchwarden (with the stem protruding slightly.) If it was JUST the canvas I would have still bought it. Rugged and stiff upon arrival, as waxed canvas should be, I cannot wait to break it in! -Pipe: Broken upon arrival, however the bowl was well made, and the stem was a bit cheap. But I have pipes already and it was not a total loss, and I hear their customer support is fantastic but I haven't felt the need as I thought the deal I received was more than adequate. -Pipe Holder: Beautiful and holds (almost) any pipe well. -pipe cleaner: is as advertised, the end bits are a little loose but that is me splitting hairs. - Czech Tool: cheap but sturdy. great for a starter or backup if you need one! - filters/screens: I personally don't use but I know the drop screens are awesome! My only gripe is that I wish instead of the 2 narrow long pockets for pipe cleaners there was a lighter and Czech tool pocket.

I'm new to the pipe scene, and wasn't sure if I'd be into it. This pipe and accessories kit was a great way to try it out, not least because it came with everything I needed to get started (besides tobacco, of course). The pipe is nicely made, has a good feel to it, and works great. I also really like the waxed canvas pouch, which has a rustic charm and seems like it's made to last. The only thing in this set that is merely ok is the leather loop stand; it's really hard to keep it the pipe upright on it and likes to slowly close over time. More than a few times the pipe has toppled while sitting on it, so when I use it I have to have something else nearby to prop the pipe on to keep it steady. Maybe it will improve over time as the leather wears in. I can't compare this to other pipes/accessories because it's the only one I've used, but I can say that I'm really pleased with the value and quality of this item.

I wanted a nice travel kit for my pipes and was looking for something more than the standard black leather with just the pipe and tobacco day outing style. This is exactly what I wanted for longer smokes that would involve a couple of pipes or more in a day or when I go camping and want more variety with me. This setup is well designed, stylish, and rugged with enough pockets to care more than you could ever need. Assuming you don't try to pack 14 kinds of tobacco for a 2 day trip. The canvas is very nice and rolls up nice and I have a lot of faith the pipes will stay put with the leather straps snapped in place. The kit is actually pretty good but I won't likely put the pipe in regular rotation. It is a comfortable feel and hang in the mouth but it won't impress anyone with it's wood or design but it is a great beginner, backyard, or outdoor pipe to take along on any adventure. Pipe tool, rest, cleaners, filters, and screens are all good quality and will get used up. You can't beat the price on this and the extra emails about care of waxed canvas and use of the pipe were spot on. I would recommend this to others and may be buying a couple for gifts down the road. Very happy with it all! UPDATE: Still regularly using this pouch and it has held up very well. The design has proven to be well thought out as I continue to use it and found myself taking it out to the veranda or down to the river to enjoy. So nice having everything in one pouch and have thought about a second for my other pipes that I smoke with different blends.

Pipe is beautiful. Pipe tool and stand are sturdy. The wax canvas bag is well made with good stitching. As someone new to pipe smoking, I appriecate the information in the ebook, it is a good starting point with basic knowledge and tips. I received a pipe with a slight crack in the bowl. I contacted them and they sent a new pipe within a few days. Very happy with this purchase and would buy from them again.
