Q: If the mattress is washable, what is it made of?

Hi John, the entire bed is made of PVC and Velvet. As the mattress is a separate piece and only the size of your standard crib sheets it easily fits in the washing machine. Hope this helps.

Q: Is this product BPA & phthalate free?

Hi There - yes it sure is BPA and phthalate free.

Q: Does this have a strong smell?

No. Upon opening the box, there was something of a "new" smell, but after that we did not notice anything when first inflated or using it. Our grandson loved sleeping on it and called it his "raft."

Q: How do I wash the mattress?

So easy - simply take the inner mattress and machine wash it like normal. You can machine wash the whole bed if you wish but usually it's just the mattress than can be prone to little people's accidents.
