Delphi HFP917 Mechanical Fuel Pump

Fits perfect, and has worked for atleast one start up.

Decent quality. Had to clean ports of casting/machining debris. Installation was simple and truck started no problem after about 6 cranks. Has run 1,000 miles so far with zero issue. I do notice that diesel starts on first or second crank now instead of third or fourth. Old pump had leak at swaged steel cap to aluminum body. And best of all...no more raw diesel smell in the cab. Original fuel pump removed was a Carter, I expected a Delphi.

Bought in Nov 2021, finally got around to installing it in Jan 2022, well after the Amazon return date. Worked perfectly to replace a leaking pump, but worked for only 2 months when it failed and stranded me on the side of the highway while towing a car trailer 50 miles from home. Not happy that Amazon won't refund me, and Delphi support will only replace, not refund, and I don't want another of their junk pumps. Purchasing a new upgraded Carter pump, so I'm out $480 for the failed pump and the tow home. Grrrr!

As a professional mechanic, I've installed many Delphi fuel pumps, and they are one of the best pumps on the market. For this pump in particular though, I wish they would have included the rear seals for the big banjo bolt. However, they are not that expensive from Ford. That is why I only gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

After installing this pump I cranked up the engine. Noticed that I had a fuel leak - traced it down to this pump. It was squirting fuel out of the air vent. I had to replace with a different brand pump, which worked fine.
