Unfortunately this toy is made in China. I went directly to the Montessori website to purchase this because I thought it was made in the USA. Their toy parts are manufactured in other countries and assembled in the USA. Therefore, why pay the high Montessori prices if the product is not completely made in the USA.

Will the pegs fall out?

I've had it since Christmas (Dec. 29th today) and 4 pegs have fallen out... and my child just pulls the shapes off the peg and doesn't hit it against the ground. My child is 1

Will the paint peel off?

No, the paint is covered very well. Even my girl washes them in water, the paint is of good condition. I believe that the shape sorter toys are covered with food grade paint, because they're odorless and anti-fade.

What's the material of these wooden toys, are they covered with lead paint?

These montessori toys for 1 2 3 year old are made of upgraded solid wood and they're covered with food safe paint,so they don't contain lead.I would like to recommend this set because I bought one from others before, its base was plywood,which was lighter and got warp soon,and the blocks were faded after cleaning.
