FANTASTIC UNDER WATER DETECTOR
What a lifesaver. We lost an expensive wedding ring in 4 feet of lake water about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We thought it would be a long shot, but we bought this detector and I tell you it did its job. We located that ring under 3 inches of sand within about 30 minutes of starting our search. Talk about saving the day, month and year. Cannot say enough about this product.

Not water proof
I bought this as a Christmas gift, so I had to wait for warmer weather before using it. The first time we tested it in the sea, there was water ingress and it ceased operating. Needless to say, a disappointing Christmas gift.

Performs exactly as advertised
I've taken this metal detector on two dives and it's proven to be a handy tool underwater.Pros:Ease of Use: Simply scan the bottom and the detector vibrates and flashes a bright blue LED upon detecting a conductive object.Accuracy: It can detect metal objects buried up to 8 inches deep in silt.Durability: The unit is robust with minimal potential failure points. The battery port, the only real potential point of failure, is well-sealed with a double O-ring.Cost-Effective: It offers great value for its price.Battery Life: Lasted for at least 2 hours in my experience, and it was still going strong.Cons:Powering On/Off: The vertical positioning for 5 seconds to power on/off means it can inadvertently turn on or off when being carried around. Removing the batteries is a workaround. No Power State Indication: It doesn't show if it's on or off unless it's detecting metal.Carrying Inconvenience: There's no efficient way to secure it during a dive without it being cumbersome. If it floats vertically, it keeps detecting your scuba cylinder, leading to constant vibrations. Conclusion:For those seeking basic functionality at a low cost, this metal detector is spot on. It delivers great value for its price. However, if you're in the market for a device with more features like adjustability or modularity, you might want to look elsewhere, as those features typically come at a higher price point.

Very fun!
This is such a fun little detector! I used it for hours at the beach with my snorkel. It's basically a pinpointer, it doesn't tell you what type of metal or how deep it is, just that there is metal underneath the machine. Pair this with an easy sand scoop and you've got hours of fun searching the beach and sand.

can only be returned with QR code! Says "kids" and adults. Its more of a toy.
I don't want to rate 1-star and hurt anyone's business. It's more of a toy and not an actual metal detector. Also, before submerging it, watch a couple youtube channels. The creators will tell you that you need to waterproof the battery housing first. If you don't, it will leak. Two examples were a glue gun and plumbers tape. Secondly, to test it, you should place typical items underneath it like beer tabs, nails, or other small metal items to see if it even beeps. My experience was that it beeped at the ring on my hand above it. Maybe my ring is heavier so it gravitates toward that instead of something smaller but still. The range underneath was not as promised. In essence, it doesn't work at at this price, whether it's a kid's toy or not, it should. I do consider that I got a lemon. Sometimes that happens. I already got something different or I'd try a replacement.RETURN BY QR CODE ONLY- I wish amazon would include this in the description or flag it at checkout.Only a UPS store can take QR codes. We only have a ups drop off point in my town. A UPS store is 52 miles away. So if you don't drive- you're out of luck. They can't even generate a UPS pick up even though UPS trucks are all over the place. I suspect this is because labeled returns go to a warehouse but this product gets so many returns (apparently) that it's forced to go directly back to the seller - that only uses QR codes. Amazon will not be able to generate a label. Not an option.Hope you find this helpful.Happy hunting.
