Works with Windows 11
My second attempt to find a way to digitise some aging content on VHS tape before its complete demise was this time successful. I'd previously tried one of the better reviewed Chinese alternatives, but with absolutely no success. Then I found the Nero Recode stick, which specifically claims to work with Windows 11 - and indeed it does. Also it includes the all-important SCART adaptor, as advertised. The only slight hitch for me was that presence of the stick when connected to a USB socket didn't show up on Explorer, so at first I wrongly assumed it wasn't functioning. It's necessary to go into the "Camera" App to find the device and to deploy it. Recording is simple and you can monitor the picture (although not the sound) as it is digitised. Because you can only capture in real time, it can take a while to convert your precious memories, but I was very pleased with the picture and sound quality of the resulting files. Obviously they were no better than the original, but at least I'll be able to edit them in due course to remove glitches and tighten up some of the content.

Sound ?
You have to open your laptop camera to access this interface (not sure what you would do on a pc with no camera) and select it as the input source. The video appears but no sound while live playing. You do get recorded sound (that seems quiet and I've tried both scart outs on the video player and its separate sound connections, I've also opened up the volume control panel and turned everything up to 100). With no sound as you are in recording monitoring view, its very difficult to tell where you are on the video (I'm putting an old band rehearsal tape into digital) cant hear the guitars starting or the drums kicking in if they aren't in shot for a visual cue. Can't find any setting to get sound to play for monitoring and the recorded sound is about half the level of anything else on the pc
