It simply works. I wanted a timer for my lawnmower battery charger. The charger draws enough amps that I fried another timer. This has worked fine. I can select a few hours and leave the batteries in the charger. I don't have to worry about them overcharging or wasting energy.

This timer is intended to allow a device or appliance that is normally plugged into a typical 120VAC outlet to be automatically powered down some time after you press a button. You push the button to apply AC power to whatever device you plug into the timer, and then start the timed period. The timer will pass the AC power through it to your plugged in device. After the timed period elapses, the timer will remove power from your plugged in device.This timer ONLY applies power once for every button press. It is not a daily timer as so many are. So, you need to be there to turn the power on, but you can then go away knowing that the timer will turn the power off at a later time.There are five LEDs next to the single pushbutton, 'HOLD' '1' '2' '4' '8'. When the timer is not turning on your plugged in device, none of the LEDs are on. Pressing the button once will illuminate the 'HOLD' LED and power will be applied indefinitely until you press 'HOLD' again. If you press the button twice, the '1' LED is illuminated and the timer will turn on power to your plugged in device for one hour before automatically turning the power back off. Pressing the button three times give you the '2' and a two hour power duration, etc; for the other two LEDs/timer periods.If the timer is applying power, if any of the 1, 2, 4, 8 LEDs are illuminated and thus the timed period is active, the power will be immediately turned off. If the HOLD LED is illuminated, the power will NOT turn off by itself.The timer does not come with any instructions.There seems to be no way to combine the time delays into a longer delay.The timer is rated for 15A 'resistive', meaning that it can safely switch power for resistive devices such a incandescent lamps and electric heaters. If your device is inductive (if it has a motor, etc) the timer's maximum current is de-rated, and this is spelled out in writing on the back of the timer.This seems to be a good quality, simple to understand and use timer.

I just bought my second of these outlet timers. They are great to use when there is a risk of over-charging a rechargeable battery.

This is the second TEKLECTRIC timer that I have purchased, each for a separate purpose. The product works exceptionally well, is super reliable and so very easy to use. I love it and use my timers every day. It is a countdown timer and not a 24 hour around-the-clock timer that repeats every day. No... you use it for a specific purpose and it gives you the option of several count down periods of time from one hour up to 8 hours. Have you ever left home and could not remember whether or not you turned off the coffee maker (or such appliance)? No longer... just use the TEKLECTRIC timer and you are worry free. My first timer is at least two or three years old. I use it every day and it still works just fine... no moving parts to wear out. If you have a count down situation to address, this is your timer. Buy in confidence. This is an outstanding product... and reasonably priced too.
